Just making sure

Anyone that has UCash/Arcade already installed. Did you have any problems getting VBookie to work properly as I want to install this afternoon.

Thanks.

i've installed over 20 mods, on vB, snitz, and other boards. This particular mod was the absolute easiest I've EVER done. no problems, no snags, nothing.

vBookie is NICELY and PROFESSIONALLY done. (you like my CAPS?)

rex_b 10-11-2004 08:39 PM

I installed in 10 minutes and it works perfectly.

GREAT HACK!

Not sure if this will help you at all, but it did in my case... ucash wasn't working on mine at first. I turned off the ucash button and turned the petz one on and it started drawing points from ucash. (I don't have the petz hack installed.)

Seems like something is reversed on those two settings.. at least on my board. :squareeyed:

Anyway, hope this helps someone.

FINALLY! And yes, your solution DID solve my problem - thank you!

skinny 10-18-2004 08:18 PM

Ive had two problems with this so far, and Im not sure if it the script or down to user error. I've been using vBookie (1.04) for about 2 months and its been excellent. However on two occasions, all bets have been sttled incorrectly, and noone had admitted up to it. Now I'm not sure if there is someone settling the bets incorrectly, or whether the script is playing up now and again.. Has anyone else experienced this?

Bobby S 10-19-2004 09:29 PM

Thank you.

But like a fecking idiot I've stuffed it by settling on the wrong outcome on an event.

How do I edit it? :nervous:

I did not find it when searching through the thread, but here are a couple of options I'd like to see:

1] An option to bet against a spread, or to bet over/under the score
2] On the richest members page, round all $ values to two decimal places.

OK I just had this happen on my first ever test of this after installing it on my board.

A few questions..

1) Can anyone settle the bets?? I see no setting asking who can settle the bets.. I'm assuming that anyone on the board can settle the bet and that somebody on my board settled the bet and settled it wrong?

2) Is there anyway to find out who settled the bet?

cashpath 11-06-2004 08:09 PM

Ok I found out it was a mod that settled.. must be default that mods can settle bets.. ?

How can I make it so that only the admin can settle bets?

TheWolverine 11-07-2004 10:04 AM

I'm getting this error after having completed all the file edits:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING in d:\server\easyphp\www\vbulletin\includes\functions .php on line 1887

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: is_browser() in d:\server\easyphp\www\vbulletin\global.php on line 59

I can't for the life of me find where the error i tho as those errors have nothing to do with any of the dits I'd done. I've gone thru all the edits to make sure I didn't drop a ")" or ";" whilst copying over the code and everything looks fine. I'm really stumped. Anyone any ideas?

The Wolverine :D

TheWolverine 11-07-2004 11:47 AM

I've narrowed it down to this in the instructions:

Code:

OPEN includes/functions.php

FIND
PHP Code:
// get CSS width for outerdivwidth from outertablewidth

BEFORE, ADD
PHP Code:
// +++ vBookie
    // declares the vbookie image directory
    $stylevar['imgdir_vbookie'] = "images/vbookie";
    // --- vBookie

SAVE & CLOSE

When I put that statement in the file it gives me the error I mentioned. The wierd thing is that if I then remove it from the file i also get the same error. Only when I copy the original functions.php file from a fresh vb3.0.3 install over to this install and replace the existing file does it go back to the original state with my forums working. Very peculiar. Anyhow I've omitted it now as I figured it's only the image directory which is not vital for the hack to work and indeed the hack seems to be working fine.

Still can't figure out why that statement is causing so much havoc though. Any ideas?

Can someone tell me where in the files for this hack is the following condition variable set?

Code:

<if condition="$showsettlebutton">

kall 11-08-2004 05:44 PM

Here's a suggestion:

Make it possible to 'add a vBookie event to this thread', as we can currently do with polls, after a thread has been created.

:)

TheWolverine 11-11-2004 07:44 AM

I've sorted my issue out now and it works like a charm :) I have one question though. I want to make use of vCash to hand out cash so I thought I'd program a lil addon in the admin cp. All I'm going to want the addon to do is submit a form with userid and payment and basically add that to what the user currently has in the db. The querying is simple enough, I'm just not sure about creating the form in keeping with the way the form is created for the main vBookie options in the admin cp. So what I mean is I'm unsure as to how the functions print_cp_header, print_form_header, print_table_header etc. work. Anyhow able to explain briefly how the submission of the form works and how the form is constructed with those functions in vbookie_admin.php?

Thanks

Obviously support for this hack is gone..

I worked out my problem to there is a line in vbookie.php that gives moderators permission to settle bets.. I just deleted that line.

It would be a pity if support has gone for this excellent mod.

I was hoping to modify the vbookie thus:

Give each user 100 cyber sheckles to bet on EACH event, and keep a running total of their wins/losses. It would allow me to run a footy prediction competition.

Anyone able to help on how to achieve this?

cashpath 11-12-2004 03:41 PM

The author of this hack hasn't been on in over 2 months..

HarryBO 11-12-2004 09:52 PM

That´s a very nice Hack. My Users will love this feature!

Is there a way to put "The newest bets" on the vBindex?

sabret00the 11-17-2004 08:23 PM

is there anyway to make it so that i have to authorise events before their posted?

tjdrico 11-19-2004 08:55 AM

Hi, yes I unticked the "Support" box because most of my time is currently engaged with other projects.

sabret00the, there's no way of doing that at the moment. It would be quite a simple addition, I'm sure. Basically, just an addition to the event status values (SETTLED, CLOSED etc.) of "PENDING", and altering showthread.php to hide events with a status of PENDING unless the person viewing it was the event's Owner or a forum Administrator. It'd also need a simple way of setting the event's status to "OPEN", which could be hacked into the vbookie.php page.

Cheertobi 11-19-2004 10:10 AM

Hi,

I really like to install this great hack, does it works with vB 3.0.3?!

Regards,

Tobias

HarryBO 11-20-2004 02:27 AM

Yes it works! I have vb 3.0.3 too!

cashpath 11-21-2004 09:29 PM

Can a coder tell me what I would need to edit to make it so admin can see private bets?

trackpads 11-22-2004 12:46 AM

Me too vb 3.03

Does anyone know how to limit the max amount bet? I recently had to reset the entire system after a few folks got over a billion. Mostly our fault with the odds but I would like to limit every bet to just 100.

thanks and great hack,

-Jason

Edit vbookie.php. Find the following section:

PHP Code:

if ($_POST['do'] == 'placebet'

Change this:

PHP Code:

    $n_bets_to_place 0;
    while (list(
$k$v) = each ($option))
    {
        if ((int)
$v 0)

$n_bets_to_place++;
    }

To this:

PHP Code:

    $n_bets_to_place 0;
    while (list(
$k$v) = each ($option))
    {
        if ((int)
$v 0)

$n_bets_to_place++;
        if ((int)
$v 100)

$option[$k] = 100;
    }

That should limit the maximum bet for any outcome to 100. Untested.

Regs 11-25-2004 04:55 PM

Excellent!

What would happen though if a user tried to bet more than the maximum? Error screen?

Cheers,

~Regs.

Nope, it automatically reduces it to 100, nice!

**Clicked** install. I am going top give this a careful install, as I have V3Arcade and Ucash already installed. Seem like a fantastic hack. Thanks for all your time.

Is it possible to do the following,

I have a forum dedicated to vbookie and when you look at the forum and see all the posts with the vbookie sign in it, it doesn't tell you if the betting is closed or if it is still open (still taking bets). Is there a way to change the vbookie blue dollar sign to green when thy are still taking bets and to red when the betting is closed.

This will instantly let the members know if betting it closed or open.

Thanks in advance

pds 11-28-2004 04:05 AM

Install went smooth, appreciate the hack!

I went through the phrases, and changed all "vbookie" phrases to "sportsbook" for our site. When you post an event, the thread still indicates "vbookie" inthe second column of the thread post. Where is that located in the coding, i would like to be consistent with my verbiage.

Thanks!

Does this work with 3.03? :squareeyed:

mcyates 12-03-2004 04:32 PM

yes it does look:

patriotcow 12-03-2004 07:18 PM

Ok thanks :nervous:

bi11i 12-03-2004 07:18 PM

works great with 3.0.3.
