is it possible to add a feature to this so when someone deletes a post and gives a warning for it that it doesn't actually delete it, but hide it. That way when an admin looks through the logs they can see the actual post that the offense was for but it stlil be deleted(hidden from the thread). This will help against mods abusing the feature and saying someone they don't like posted something they didn't but evidence is gone because post was deleted.

:(, the postbit doesnt show the warning link

I had the same problem. I've been trying to install for weeks and then suddenly yesterday it started working. Before got database error with "Warning List" then got that fixed by runing the instal file but the warnign thing was in the profiles or postbit and now suddently its there and i'm the only admin who knew i was installing this and admin logs show i was only one working on it. I wasn't even doing anything in the ftp, was in the adminCP and went back to the boards and it worked! After 2 weeks of not working so there must've been somethign i did on accident to get it to work. The weird thing is i wasn't even trying to get it to work or doing anything in adminCP related to it. Was just gonna wait for maker to help me out but never replied.

Koutaru 02-15-2003 04:11 AM

:P too bad for me, I'll wait until we have an update on this ;)

I was wanting to set something like this up and I just stumbled upon it while looking for another hack.

~clicks install~ great hack! ^.^

Erwin 02-17-2003 06:32 AM

Working fine on 2.3.0 for me... :)

I've even made it start a new thread in my staff forum... ;)

TribunM 02-21-2003 12:37 PM

Wow i must say this ist the greatest Hack i ever had see.
Very nice Work. A Tipp. In your next Install.txt give a hint that you must update the vbulletin Options. After that everething works fine.

S1R1US 02-21-2003 03:49 PM

yeh thats what it was Tribun, i was updating vbulletin options which made it all of the sudden start working.

TribunM 02-22-2003 07:18 AM

The Hack works but i´ve a question.
What is this Warning Order next to Warning Level ? I dont Uderstand that function.

GReetz Tribun

Erwin 02-23-2003 02:07 AM

The order that you want the warnings listed out when you warn a member. (I think).

I don?t understand that. The warnings listed out in every Order, didn?t it ?
How many orders exists ? 3, right .
Geforce could give a little legend for that i think. Or Anyone other ideas the orders good for ?

Open warnconfig.php and configure this according to your forum!
Where is this file? I cannot find it.

mheinemann 02-24-2003 12:52 PM

If you read the rest of the thread, you'd see you need to skip that instruction.

KaiN6993 02-24-2003 05:47 PM

Sorry, 25 pages is a bit long to read through so I took a shortcut.

That's really not good enough. People take time to write hacks and address problems as they come - you cannot expect them to have to repeat themselves over and over again. 25 pages is not long. Have you seen the thread for Quick Reply, or the vBHome Lite support thread?

Also, there is a "Search Thread" function. Use it and show some initiative. :) You can find posts in a thread easily.

KaiN6993 02-24-2003 09:11 PM

You win, oh great one.

Swedie 02-28-2003 10:21 AM

Seriosly.

Someone answer this.

Why, doesn't it show up anywhere where I can Warn a user?

Someone said: You missed a big chunk out of the instructions... well, the v2.1 file surely doesn't include anything where it talks about editi templates such as "profile". etc...

need help

Swedie 02-28-2003 10:38 AM

Okay ..

Well, apparently, from what I (and that's not much) can figure out.

This command doesn't do shiet!

$post[warnlink]

it's supposed to popup next to "IP: Logged".. but won't.. because it's just not working as it should.

I'm trying to backtrace it down to the hard scripting.. no success.

TheMayhem 02-28-2003 10:36 PM

I noticed with a few people's signatures that used like drop down boxes or forgot the html code that it screwed up that warn user link and it wouldn't appear. Maybe that's the reason why for you...

Swedie 03-01-2003 03:57 AM

Just did a fresh install. Made One post by myself.

No luck. Still same problems.

Anyone?

Swedie 03-01-2003 04:04 AM

Alright peeps! I figured it out!

FOR ALL THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS I POSTED ABOVE!

You need to go to the "vBulletin Options" page and go down to the bottom of that page where you'll find "Warning System" options. Change some off them, or not.. and click Submit.

Seems like the values are not put into the database "correctly" during install.

You're welcome.

Notice: you must submit the vbulletin options update for everthing to become active... that will fix all the problems as stated in the thread... regards...
that was covered on page 4 of this thread

Swedie 03-02-2003 12:11 AM

man, there are some ungreatful people here. Just dissing you all the time..

j/k

It seems it need to be mentioned twice anyways.. I missed it..

maybe the moderator should delete everything that is not needed to be known...

The Red Devil 03-10-2003 08:10 PM

Exelent hack. Works flawlessly on 2.3.0, and I had no problems installing it.
Might need some "minor" adjustments but that depends how you want it to look on your forums.

Again a totally exelent hack.
Clicks *install*

Oblivion Knight 03-16-2003 12:27 PM

All seems to be running ok so far on 2.3.0..
I haven't tested warning a user so far, but I haven't had any errors as of yet.

I love the idea of this hack, good stuff :)
[high]* Oblivion Knight clicks install.[/high]

Andrew111888 03-16-2003 05:21 PM

I downloaded this and it didn't come with a warnconfig.php

It has:

warn_extra.php
warn_upgrade2.php
install_warning.php
warn.php
warn_upgrade.php
admin_warning.php
installation_txt.php

No warnconfig.php

Buddha 03-20-2003 07:22 PM

ok. i just went through this entire thread. i'd successfully installed this hack some time ago, but hadn't noticed a snag... N9ne brought it up on page 15, but i don't see an answer anywhere.

the warning level # doesn't appear in the user's profile but does in the postbit. any thoughts what would cause that?

thank you.

ap0c 03-28-2003 11:13 PM

Installed on 2.3.0 , great hack! Clicks install:)
I did get the level number to appear in user profile, probably not the right way to do it, but it does work. In the warn_seelink template I added $userinfo[warninglvl] so it looks like this:
<smallfont><b>Warning Level:</b> $post[warninglvl] $userinfo[warninglvl] </smallfont><br>

laycomp 03-31-2003 06:36 AM

Hello g-force2k2 ...great hack, I think! hehe

Please clear something for me:

Since it is a new install for me I ran install_warning.php, all worked fine.

Now I go and read installation_txt.php to continue installation.

After creating user group, what follows is:

Notice ::
Open warnconfig.php and configure this according to your forum!

I'd like to know where warnconfig.php is located???? It certainly ISN't in my forum folder?

Please some help :bunny: thanks!!

g-force2k2 03-31-2003 02:14 PM

laycomp there is no warnconfig.php

i didn't edit instructions since version 2.0 when i made the changes to v2.1 so instead of the warnconfig.php the options to configure are actually in the admin vbulletin options...

I am seriously going to update this hack... :dead:

regards,
g-force2k2

gforce2k2, updating would be of great help to all, it is a good hack, I am using vbull v2.3, thank you.

In the meantime, what do I do after I run install_warning.php?

Do I disregard ALL instructions from installation_txt.php file? :ermm:

laycomp 03-31-2003 08:20 PM

Responding to my own post:

I have installed this in vb 2.30 and seems to be working fine. Great hack.

If you get past install_warning.php, move over to next step, and that's following the instructions in installation_txt.php. Ok, here, when you get to this instruction:

Notice ::
Open warnconfig.php and configure this according to your forum!

If you find that you do NOT have warnconfig.php, skip this step and continue to step:

File Modification (6)
// ++++++++++++++++++++

Hope this clears the issue with the missing warnconfig.php file.

JUST SKIP IT and continue down the file following the other instructions!

SmartGnome 04-01-2003 11:33 AM

This hack is just what I need.

Did the install on 2.3.0 and got this error

Code:

Inserting Defualt Warnings Into Warnings Table

Defualt Warning Values Successfully Inserted!

Altering User Table: Adding Warning Level.

User Table Successfully Altered!

Inserting Warning System Settings Into VBulletin Options

2 Problems running on vB 2.3.0:

forum/warn.php gives me a blank page
$post[warnlink] in the postbit (the warning link) doesn't show up. I read here that others are having this same problem; has there been a fix yet? If so, then could someone kindly point me to the post for the fix?

Thanks! :)

SmartGnome 04-03-2003 11:06 AM

Answer to myself :D

There was already a settingsgroup 40 so I changed it to another number and it worked.

Last problem is the $post[warnlink]

Cheers

Oblivion Knight 04-05-2003 09:50 PM

I'm currently having a couple of problems when viewing a member's profile..

1.) Why hasn't the colour of the Warnings "sections" taken on the alternate colour? Instead there are 2 coloured sections which are the same colour that have been put together.
2.) I'm pretty sure a number is supposed to be displayed after "Warning Level: " like there is on a topic, but there currently there isn't.. Is this something I have done wrong or a bug that has yet to be fixed?

Many thanks,
Oblivion Knight

Problem 2 solved.
Thankyou to ap0c for your solution.

Rynthar 04-08-2003 08:20 PM

Hi. I am on VB 2.2.9 and just installed the hack. However, i noticed that Warn_Config.php wasnt in my hack folder, so now i get a MySQL DB error when in the admin panel and click on any warn buttons. HELP!

Rynthar 04-08-2003 08:31 PM

Also, for example, the Postbit screen that Gforce showed is no where seen on my board (www.xoxideforums.com). Please help ASAP, we really like this hack

Rynthar 04-08-2003 08:33 PM
