Wish Filip could address my issue

Has anyone else notice their site slow down when having this mod enabled?

No my site pages load times are all sub 1 second... They addressed all the issues in the beta stages, and since Philip added PHP-FPM support my site loads even faster.

Unfortunately I had to remove the mod for this reason. I wish it wasn't the case but I could not take the server hit.

highlander29 07-06-2014 08:45 PM

I've been running this mod for two and a half months. I hate to say it but the number of unique sessions per day after installing it hasn't gone up. It's gone down. I was at in excess of 6000 sessions per day prior to installing it. Now I am below 5000 pretty consistently. I'm using the standard features including the automated thread tagging. Bounce rate has gone down by about 2% though. Bottom line is from an SEO perspective, I don't seem to be getting benefits yet. Pages per session is generally lower as well.

After Fillip installed it and did some tuning, the site was actually faster, so no I didn't see any negative impacts.

I'm having some issues on the site right now with posting actions seeming to "hang" with the spinning wheel causing users to wait for minutes for things to come back to them, but don't necessarily have evidence that it is related to DBSEO.

The other thing I would add to this is that pageviews per day has gone down from 30,000 - 35,000 per day to 21,000 - 27,000 pageviews per day. If the point of the software is to drive more activity to the forum, it seems to be doing the opposite in my case. I've been committed to sticking with this but am beginning to have some doubts and concerns.

I am having a content.php redirect loop any fix?

If you go to Google in a different browser where you are not signed in to your Google account, and search for the keywords you wish to target, you can observe where you are at compared to other forums.

Turn off the Canonical URL enforcement in vB's Friendly URL settings.

Again:

the nginx config in the do_not_upload

Code:

location ~* \.(png|jpg|jpeg|gif|ico)$
        {
                expires 30d;
                log_not_found off;
        }
        location /
        {
                try_files $uri $uri/ /dbseo.php;
        }

        location ~ ^((?!dbseo).)*\.php$
        {
                rewrite ^/(.*)$ /dbseo.php last;
        }

        location ~* \.(php)$
        {
                fastcgi_index index.php;
                fastcgi_pass unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.sock;
                include /etc/nginx/fastcgi_params;
                fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME $document_root$fastcgi_script_name;

                fastcgi_param PATH_TRANSLATED $document_root$fastcgi_script_name;
        }

Gives:

nginx: [emerg] duplicate location "/" in /xx/xxx/xxx.conf:7

The above is a clean config btw. No extra things has been added.

Did you upload the file from the folder called do_not_upload you do understand why the folder is named like that it is named for a reason

Yes.. I understand it's a nginx config file.. I use 2 nginx conf files for vBulletin and I own a VPS myself ;) thanks. I understand how it works. I "included" a conf file to pinpoint to DBTech's rewrite rules, but its giving errors.. So the rewrite rules that DBTech has shared is invalid.

I still lack some knowledge though, hence I'm unable to fix the location (for now)... Until I learn how to solve it.

cdoyle 07-10-2014 12:45 PM

Are there some recommended settings that everyone should do?

I just checked out my Bing Webmaster tools, and since enabling this mod my metrics have took a nosedive. Not sure why.
My pages indexed were cut in half, same with pages crawled and my clicks from search is down 72%. Appeared in search is also down 63% since installing this.

Not sure what to do to improve that?
Any ideas?

If you are having problems post on their site they will go into your site and config it for you

You need to merge the location entries found in our config file with your existing one. You can't have multiple directives for the same location, as evidenced by the error message :)

There may be a transitional period where your content is reindexed with the new URLs :)

Be sure to enable the sitemap processing, that will ensure Bing gets alerted of any new content.

OK, I'll give it some more time.
Where is this sitemap setting? Is it called 'sitemap processing'?

thanks

Helping a forum owner out with this and we are testing it and it looks good so far.

He used vb's advanced friendly urls.

Advanced Friendly URLs:
showthread.php/1234-Thread-Title

Can the lite version do the same thing? Basically notice the .html at the end of urls and would like to remove it if possible, or is this a feature in the Pro version?

Thanks!

Chadi 07-11-2014 04:10 PM

I dont' know why this mod is messing things up. I can't even create certain new threads here. It just redirects to any random thread.

Subject: testing
Post: "just testing stuff out".

Why?

Does anyone know why my structured data would drop like this or how to fix it?

Also my Google Webmaster index files are dropping now too. They went up when I first installed this, but now it's back down to maybe lower than it was before I enabled it.

Does anyone have any settings they've enabled in this mod, that have helped their rankings?
I feel like I'm always fighting this with the engines, and never getting any results from anything I do.

It's listed under Sitemap Settings in the DBSEO CP :)

It's not possible to replicate the Advanced Friendly URLs schema, but you do have options to have URL schemas without .html in them.

Make sure your thread URL format doesn't conflict with any other formats.

That could be related to a temporary drop in the indexed pages as Google indexes your new URLs.

Thanks, got the config to work.. my bad!

Is it normal though that all old URL's that were created with vBulletin's friendly URL (advanced rewrite) no longer works?

Raakin 07-13-2014 07:26 PM

The 'Edit Post' button doesn't work and it simply shows the Ajax loading continuously after installing this on vB 4.2.2.

Does anyone else have this problem? and how to fix it?

Please explain what 'other' format you're referring to. I've attached my settings for your info.

final kaoss 07-14-2014 03:59 PM

Pretty sure he's referring to rewriting formats. In short, double check and make sure everything matches up.

So if you use this option: [forum_title]/[thread_id]-[thread_title].html
Make sure that those options match those on similar different settings down the line.

Where's the actual tag output / or tag cloud in public pages? Can't find any. I already ran the tag creation tool in admin panel.

How do I stop Webmaster tools, from saying there is an error when there isn't one.
Every time the sitemap is updated, some will say there are errors. It's not always same ones, it's just random.

This is the worse it's been, with 3 saying there are no URLs. Even though there is.
example, it's saying this one is empty
http://www.caraudiocentral.net/forum...hread_1.xml.gz

but there are URLs there.

Is this hurting my site?

if you mean Mod_Rewrite then yes, all other URLs should resolve and vB should redirect them normally.

Nobody else has reported this problem, so it's most likely not due to this mod. Check your server's error log for additional details.

What I meant was, if you have a format [forum_name]/[thread_title]-[thread_id]/ and then another format like [forum_name]/[announcement_title]-[announcement_id]/ then these two would conflict, because when you break it down into its components, the URL formats are identical.

This happens if they read your sitemap in the exact time it's being created. There is no way to work around this, as it depends on their own server :(
