So this mod makes forums dependent on your buisness?
I mean if I register with you that is not for being able to install but rather dependent on your server/hosting/economic? So basicly whatever happens to you then all forums who have this mod installed will no longer be able to accept new registrations if your server is down or getting shut off or you find other buisness or whatever might happen? Just need to be clear before i install this? :) PS.In case that is the case is there a free version that are not tied up with your server so our forums can be open even do your server is not running? |

Any 3-d party service will make forum dependent on its business (KeyCAPTCHA, ReCaptcha, Akismet, etc). We are providing spam protection for 3 years, our uptime is more than 99.9% and we are not going to close our business. I guess there are no good standalone spam protection, because it's much more simplier to detect spammer on huge traffic. Best Regards, KeyCAPTCHA Team |
I recently transferred my forum domain from webste1.com to website2.net (using a parked domain for the new domain name). Afterward, anyone who registered was shown a broken image url notification (no drag & drop picture).
For a temporary fix, just to get registrations back up for the time-being, I uninstalled KeyCaptcha (I tried just disabling, but it didn't work). Now there's no drag & drop image, but once the person trying to register hits the 'register' button, they are taken to a page that displays this error: The following errors occurred during your registration Could not find phrase 'keycaptcha_wrong_solution'. Help, please! Registrations are totally down because of this!! |
Ok, I didn't realize I needed to update my new domain with the KeyCaptcha site. I did that, then reinstalled the product allowing overwrite.
There is still no drag & drop image displayed to new registrants: Antispam, complete the task: *nothing* Uninstalling the product does not resolve the issue. |
Ok, had to I had to also update the private key. Missed that in the instructions, I guess. All is well. Sorry for freaking out.
Kinda disconcerting that I can't uninstall to resolve issues, though. |
Ok, so I got my issues mostly solved with the new domain change. However, I'm now testing out the registration process myself for the first time in forever.
Wow, the puzzle for non-mobile devices is ridiculously hard. It didn't use to be like this: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2013/09/15.jpg Is it possible to have it changed to something else? For what it's worth, I have the M+ mobile option installed for people that try to register on mobile devices. I'd actually prefer to have that available as an option for desktop users, too. Pretty much anything besides the puzzle above. I'm batting 1 out of 6 tries on that one! |
Quick, someone let me know what this is a picture of:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2013/09/35.png Anyone registering at my site on a desketop is going to need to know. And they're going to have to know what four other pictures are, too. Some of them you can tell what they are. Some of them are as hard as the one above. The chances of success are pretty slim, I'd say. |

We show such task for users with strange activity (too many solutions on one site, too many captcha requests, etc) and the ban will expire in 1 day. At the same time all other users see defaul puzzle. Regards, KeyCAPTCHA Team |
Well, in that case, keep up the good work. :)
|
is the best one out so far?

It's been 16 days since the last time someone has registered at my site. Curious, I decided to attempt to register, myself.
The provided keyCAPTCHA images are simply too hard to decipher. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2013/10/64.png I *think* I see lasagna in one of the pics. But a lot of things look like lasagna, so who knows. You have to get every picture right or you can't register. You told me before that the pictures were hard like this due to "suspicious" activity. These pics were shown in my first attempt to register. |

Could you open support ticket at keycaptcha.com? Such problem can occur if there are some changes on you server and outgoing requests are not availiable anymore. Regards, KeyCAPTCHA Team |
I had it installed on my forum 4.2.2 PL1 and it has since vanished from my site with in the last 2 days. I am not sure why, I haven't made any changes to my forum settings in any way.
The only thing that has changed is I have added an SSL certificate |
