Hi,
I installed this a few months back, and it was working great at the time, but today I logged into google webmaster tools, and noticed that several of the files are showing a 404 error.

/forums/sitemap_archive_1.xml.gz
/forums/sitemap_forum_7.xml.gz
/forums/sitemap_forum_8.xml.gz
/forums/sitemap_member_1.xml.gz
/forums/sitemap_tags_1.xml.gz

The rest show as OK?
Any ideas why these ones are showing a 404?

anyone else have this problem?

Does this need to be manually submitted to google through the webmaster tools? I installed it but google isn't showing any site maps... I manually added the sitemap and it works but not sure if it will update.

Phaedrus 04-23-2011 05:28 AM

Interesting. Since my server upgraded the database to 5.0.92-community and PHP 5.2.17 this no longer works. I get a dbase error rather than a sitemap...

The_____KinG 04-24-2011 06:29 PM

Hi there , thanks a lot for this great mod.

i have two vb forums one i am using vb 4.1.1 and the other is 4.1.3 i tried to install tthis mod on both the sites , the one using 4.1.3 worked like a charm but the one using 4.1.1 although got installed properly is not working and giving me a 500 error

so need to ask is it because of the vb version or some other error that i need to check

I don't know if it "needs" to be in WMT but it does help and the sitemap will update.
Once you have it in WMT you can than see what backlinks you have to the site, so it's good to have it regardless.

downloadsuk 04-28-2011 11:28 AM

has anyone got this working with downloadsII for vb 4.x yet? trying to get a sitemap working and after some searching found out that the suplied addon file is for vb 3.x only, and vbSEO didn't plan on updating the addon any time soon

downloadsuk 04-28-2011 12:30 PM

Ok, for anybody who is interested, I managed to hack apart the addon file vbseo_sm_downloads2.php to enable it to work with the vb4.x DownloadsII addon.

It should now add this sitemap to your existing one.

Happy days.

File attached

Also, there is a better file here:

Black Widow 06-26-2011 07:12 AM

Hi,

I have a problem with my forumdisplay links.
They look like http://www.elsf.net/forumdisplay.php?page=[number] instead of http://www.elsf.net/forumdisplay.php?f=[number]

I think there is a bug in the following section:
$url = $vbseo_vars['isvb4'] ?
fetch_seo_url('forum|nosession', $g_cache['forum'][$forum_id], ($page>1)?array('page'=>$page):array())
: 'forumdisplay.'.VBSEO_PHP_EXT.'?f='.$forum_id . ($page>1?'&page='.$page:'');

Probabbly problem with $g_cache.

How can i fix it?

Thanks.

ForceHSS 06-26-2011 12:20 PM

When I try to view VBSEO sitemap reports, I get this error:

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@consortium.stormspire.net and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

did the install, including renaming htaccess.txt into .htaccess

But now i'm unable to log into my ACP :(

here's the error message. help in either correcting what's wrong or uninstalling the mod would be GREATLY appreciated!

ps - i've loaded it twice but the .htaccess file seems to disappear in public_html after i rename it from htaccess.txt to .htaccess. is this to be expected?

strudinox 07-14-2011 03:55 AM

All links are generated successful however I am having one problem with this mod generating CMS articles URL's correctly. Running 4.1.4

My URLs are pretty standard:
Code:

http://www.gnd-tech.com/content/720-EVGA-GTX-570-Classified-Released

When I run the Generator, it produces URLs that look like this:
Code:

http://www.gnd-tech.com/content.php720-EVGA-GTX-570-Classified-Released
Notice that it's generating "content.php" and not including a /

All the other Mod Rewritten URLS are working fine such as the forums, and blogs.

Skierpetros 07-25-2011 10:38 AM

Default XML Sitemap must be disabled if i use this sitemap?

ngocol 07-28-2011 03:39 PM

Im not using VBSEO so i try to change the "\" on rewrite form VBSEO .
RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]

to "/" and its work thanks...
( maybe "/" its meant for VBSEO user )

the only problem wa the BING submission link

vbseo will NOT pick up on any 'friendly' urls in use.
You should use this with vbseo, or with standard urls only.

If you're using any friendly service urls from vb4, you should use the vb4 built in tool.

yes, you should not run both.

I have no idea what you're trying to do here.
\ is an escape character, making "." a literal DOT and not a catch-all as in, say (.*) in a regular expression.

Bing has blocked non-us pings for some time. It's out of anyone's control but their own.

as advised before, you have 3 options, and need to consult with your host on this matter as it is the rewrite area that is not working on your server. Or, move to a provider that understands basic rewriting.

Ghostt 07-30-2011 01:26 AM

The rewrite rules are working host confirmed that!
and im not the only one with this error i think.
why you use this rewrite rules instead just point to the file... such things makes problems

my rewrite rules:
Code:

RewriteEngine On

RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]

this arent possible options that youve written.
i need a real solution or what the support have to check on server to find the problem.
one more time: all other rewrite rules work perfect!

You should use this with vbseo, or with standard urls only.

This needs to be mentioned in the OP then. I guarantee most people running VB4 who do NOT have VBSEO installed will be running friendly URLs.

Checking from my google account I seem to be having an issue with the Archive file. All other sitemaps work fine and get a green check but the Archive one stays with the https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2011/09/58.png

Any ideals why???

Also I had over 1 million indexed urls but now after a server move and upgrade Im back to only 6,600... That SUCKS!!!

Is this normal?

That's encrypted? Go in through the admincp, log in with the password you setup for the mod, and navigate to the archives bit and make sure the links are valid.

From the admincp it looks fine and the link is valid but I still have the issue inside my Google account.

See screenshot.

Is this something I should install (even if I recently installed the most recent version of VBSEO)? Many, many thanks for the advice.
