Hi,

when a template is calling the shoutbox, is it possible to overwrite $vboptions[dbtech_vbshout_height] temporally witch defines the height of the shoutbox. That should do the trick.

another issue, when I'm in a room created by a user and get removed from the access-list. I'm falling out off the room and seem to be in the main shoutbox, but the post are not updated and I'm not able to post anymore. I have to refresch the page or change to a room diffrent to 'shoutbox'

Would still require per-instance height adjustments, which is not possible at this specific point in time.

I'll check it out as well, thanks.

Check the dbtech_vbshout_shoutbox_system template, that's got either the phrase in question or the "SYSTEM" word you can change :)

D19RNY 06-06-2010 03:39 PM

what does this mean - 2. CHMOD the /dbtech/vbshout/aop folder to 0777

DragonByte Tech 06-06-2010 03:42 PM

You need to use your FTP program to right click the folder in question, choose CHMOD or File Permissions, and change it to 0777.

I can't figure out how to turn off blog comment notification. Does the ability to turn it off not exist yet or am I just having trouble finding that option?

IngoPan 06-08-2010 04:10 PM

Hallo,

I just installed vbshout and i have 2 questions:

1. How do i hide the shoutbox from unregistered / not logged in users please ?

2. How do i change the location from top/below control panel to lets say some ections lower,e.g. under my forum content?

Thx in advance,

Ingo

Is there any way to add more font color choices for members?

On the old Inferno version I had added many custom colors, and before I switch (also upgrading to vB4) I'd like to know if it's possible to add the colors I had in the older version~

Thanks!

It seems the ability doesn't exist yet - my bad :(
You can disable it by disabling the Plugin called "New Blog Comment - Add Notification".

Instance Management -> Edit Permissions -> uncheck the Can View Shoutbox checkbox for Unregistered /... users.

Instance Management -> Edit -> Either pick the Above Footer display option, or follow the directions there to manually put your shoutbox in a template.

vBShout for vB4 uses vBulletin's own colour picker choices, so edit the editor_colors template to add custom colours :)

What is an "Instance Manager" please ? I can“t find it in AdminCP. Thanks in advance.

DragonByte Tech 06-08-2010 04:41 PM

It's in the left hand menu underneath DBTech - vBShout.

No menue in admincp on the right - Sorry for wasting your time, but i am definately lost here.

All i see is under vbulletin options:

db tech - general options
db tech - look & feel options
db tech -shoutbox feature options.

Where the heck is the instance manager ? *sigh*

DragonByte Tech 06-08-2010 04:50 PM

The main AdminCP menu, not vBulletin Options menu.

No Such menue entry is there.

See pic : http://prntscr.com/g4lv

DragonByte Tech 06-08-2010 05:01 PM

Did you upload the files correctly?
Does /includes/xml/cpnav_vbshout.xml exist on your server in the same folder as cpnav_vbulletin.xml does?

Fillip

Yes, they are.

DragonByte Tech 06-08-2010 05:22 PM

In that case I have no idea, it's not a bug in vBShout since it works fine for everybody else, nobody else has had this problem =/

Fillip

Any other idea? Very strange indeed. I upped all files once again, no go.
Whats the menu entry above/below db tech on left side please?

Thanks.

hmm what i notcied is that the default sin is not being updated when installing the .xml file via the plugin manager. How do i manually do this, if its possible at all?

DragonByte Tech 06-08-2010 05:45 PM

I have never heard of this happening either, so I wouldn't know :(

IngoPan 06-08-2010 06:47 PM

In my testforum its working fine.
I wonder what prevents my main sites forums menue from being updated with the new XML entries.

Jamie G 06-09-2010 02:07 AM

Hey how can I make custom commands? :D

Zombo 06-09-2010 03:38 AM

Great mod!

2 questions:

is it possible to control flood per group. it seems admins are already immune to flood control, can I set other mods also avoid flood control?

is it possible to have "+" and "-" buttons which reduce and increase size of shoutbox. I don't want to have fixed size shoutbox :)

I suggest contacting vBulletin support, maybe they've heard of this issue before :)

Custom Commands is a Pro-only feature I'm afraid.

The "Is Shoutbox Manager" (settable in the normal Usergroup Manager, not vBShout's permissions) controls who's immune to character limit and flood control.

We'll look into adding this in the future :)
For now, though, the Pro version can control the size of the shoutbox via UserCP options.

Zombo 06-09-2010 05:32 PM

thanks for the fast reply, I have another question:

- I thought the BBcode permission would also apply to teh editor bar but it does not. How do you set permissions for the editor bar?

DragonByte Tech 06-09-2010 05:53 PM

There's no permissions for that bar I'm afraid, only global on/off switches. These should be located in vBulletin Options under one of the vBShout option headers.

I got it going.
I created a new user and gave this user superadmin rights. After logging in, there was
this dubious DB admn area. Thanks again for your help.

Oh I see, I can't believe I didn't think of that :o

Glad you got it working :)

Also please go to Instance Management -> Edit -> check that Automatic Deployment is set to Below Navbar.

kylek 06-13-2010 05:25 PM

Everything is great with this but have one question.

Where is the setting to stop having comments to the blogs being posted in the shoutbox?

Right now we get "xxxxx has just posted the blog" and "xxxxxx has just commented on the blog"

DragonByte Tech 06-13-2010 05:38 PM

Does not have a setting yet, please disable the relevant plugins for now :)

Fillip

kylek 06-13-2010 05:44 PM

Thank you!! Thought I was blind as couldn't see a setting for it!

Bouncer222 06-15-2010 05:16 PM

When I remove index to show it on all pagest, I get this error on the top of my home page...

Warning: array_intersect() [function.array-intersect]: Argument #1 is not an array in [path]/includes/class_bootstrap.php(509) : eval()'d code on line 72

How to fix that?

And I would rather want to add it as a module using vbadvanced. Can you give me a FULL tutorial on how to add it as a module using vbadvanced please? I'm having difficulties adding it as a module using vbadvanced.

What is the php file that displays the shoutbox? maybe I can add a vbadvanced module that displays a php file?

Please update to the latest version of vBulletin, that has in the past been the only way to fix that AFAIK.

Unfortunately that's not something we can provide because we don't use vBAdvanced.
Please check their support forums, as they have tutorials that may or may not have been updated to work with v5 of the Shoutbox.

vbshout.php is the file that displays the shoutbox, though it needs the instanceid URL parameter.
Your best bet would be the guide on the vBA forums.

Hope that helps :)

Fillip

Bouncer222 06-15-2010 06:39 PM

Well they have no guide there, and their support is pretty slow I gotta say. My vbulletin is already up to the latest version 4.0.3 PL1.

Bouncer222 06-15-2010 06:41 PM

What's the "it needs the instanceid URL parameter" ?

Can I just use vbadvanced and display the php file as a module? (Gonna try it right now as well)
