Hope you like it. On separate note we have released 1.5.1 iPhone app that just got approved - give it a try.

Just wondering if this software supports Motorola RIZR/RAZR phones? Specifically a RIZR Z3, which is what I have :D I currently can't get our forum working on it, even though it does have GPRS and general internet access. Hoping this could help!

Thanks :)

Hi GamerGirl,

For those kind of phone you should look into general WAP support. :)

Hi all,

Looks like the Blackberry version is in full stream - we have finished the majority of the backend work and is now tweaking the UI to make it pretty and usable. Attached is a quick sneak of what it is like running in the ugly emulator.

At least we are assure you this won't be long until it is available. Like what we had delivered in Nokia and Android app a month ago.

Cheers!

My Android users are saying that when they use this to go to the forum it says..

"target host must not be null, or set in parameters"

Any ideas?

This is currently taken down in preparation of Ovi Store launch, if you interested to have a copy please PM me and I will work it out. Thanks!

I use Ovi and Ovi Store and it is completely unreliable. Please do not force members to use Ovi for this product. If that is the case, I will pass, mainly because Ovi is so bad... and I am a long time Nokia smart phone user with full-time GPRS/Edge coverage.

What would you recommend the way to distribute the app other than just put the file online? We would need a update mechanism to push updates to users.

You don't need that "update mechanism"....

I run many Nokia apps and none have an auto update "push" mechanism. This includes Opera Mini, Calcium (Calculator), PuTTY (for SSH logins), Nokia Email, Gmail, Bolt, etc.

If Google can live without auto Gmail push and if Opera can live without automatic Gmail push, then you can too.

I think the issue for you is not "push/update" but how to create an economic business model and you are planning to use Ovi to collect revenue. Nothing wrong with that, but I don't think you will find much success because ovi "sucks", for a lack of a more technical and polite term, and trying to replicate the Apple iTunes/iStore model with Ovi has not been successful for Nokia because ovi is so bad.

I get the feeling you are wrapping an underlying economic interest in the guise of a technical requirement. However, if you look at most Nokia Symbian Apps from the "big boys" most give away for free (Opera, Gmail, etc.)

How about PM me a copy and I'll install and comment back to you on the commercial viability of the app on Nokia? I use both an E61 and E63, but mostly E63 these days since it is smaller, newer, and nicer, yadda, yadda, yadda.

yellowpeter 01-01-2010 12:58 PM

simply put we are not the big guys like Gmail and Opera who has a massive engineering team to get things right, if you look at our iPhone release cycle we have pushed out over 9 updates in less than six months, if you are here long enough our iPhone 1.0 release doesn't even have reply function! This MOD is based on constant feedback from users to get the way it is today. I feel that not everyone is power user - and that's why I am consulting user like you to provide feedback.

I don't see how it ties to commercial interest? We are well-informed in the mobile app space and it's silly to spend any effort in Nokia if making money is the reason - we spent hundreds (if not thousands) of hours in making this app running on Nokia, just because we know we can and we want to balance out the iPhone dominance.

Oh by the way I have a Nokia 5530 and I must say I love it. You can't beat the value of this little machine although the S60 UI drives you nut everyday :D

Hi,

Sorry if this question has already been asked. I am thinking of installing this mod onto my forum. The thing is that my forum is a small private forum for recovering alcoholics and drug users and therefore would not like to have it listed on any directory. Is there anyway to use tapatalk without being listed?

Yes, you can set it as hidden mode so only users knowing your forum name can find it, you can also make the your forum name a bit special so there are less chance people find it accidentially. :)

Full private messaging support is now available in Android, just grab the latest update from Android market and you are all set!

Also the update allows you to view who is current online and send him a PM in just one tap. :)

We are looking into this.

We are experiencing a problem with the Greek language. Do you expect it to be fixed soon?

We are aware of Greek language specific issue and is looking into it. Are you able to tell me which forum we can reproduce the issue?

Mihalis 01-13-2010 04:30 AM

Thank you for your answer.

We have submitted this forum yesterday. Just to let you know that we have noticed a problem with the greek characters in logins with greek usernames, posting new threads and messages, as well as PMs. If you post anything in Greek it appears with a problem in the actual online forum.

Do you have any issues in viewing thread in Greek? It sounds to me is an encoding problem from the client side.

Mihalis 01-13-2010 08:26 AM

Nope no issues in viewing. If its an encoding issue with the client its a weird one because we get really weird characters back. Also theres the login issue in the app with Greek usernames. Could that be an encoding issue too?

It sounds to me more like an decoding issue as your forum is not UTF-8 format. Can you PM me a test account so we can do some debugging? Ideally if you can open a ticket at http://www.tapatalk.com/forum and we will follow it up in proper fashion.

Mihalis 01-13-2010 04:06 PM

Yup its not a UTF-8, its an ISO 8859-7. But why should that be a problem in posting? But anyways, I will start a ticket as you suggest. I send you with PM the test account info.

DNG 01-13-2010 10:36 PM

waiting for BB app to get this mod installed

yellowpeter 01-14-2010 01:34 AM

We have released another round of Tapatalk for Nokia app update and is now available at http://www.tapatalk.com/nokia/tapatalk.dm

If you have previously installed the older version, you need to first remove it from the device and reinstall by pointing your nokia browser to the aforementioned URL.

Let us know if you hit into any problem.

Note that it is still in Beta and are about to submit to Ovi Store again soon.
