As Biker_GA noted, the site is alive & doing fine. :)

abroad 05-25-2009 07:26 PM

Are those games somehow copyright protected or is it legally allowed to use them?

The games included with the v3A download and the games offered at the v3A support site have the game creators permissions to be included. For games offered at other sites you'll need to check with them to find out.

Sayid 05-28-2009 08:34 PM

I have upgraded, I got *[]* in ACP. I can't change the mod settings !

btw, I can change only general setting from forum options in ACP

thanks in advance for your help :)

KW802 05-28-2009 09:07 PM

Sayid, if you're "*[]*" in the ACP, then it sounds like you may missed uploading some files to your server. Make sure all of the files in the forums folder, in particular the /forums/includes/xml folder, have been uploaded. :)

Sayid 05-28-2009 10:09 PM

Yeah I'm sure all files are uploaded

I've fixed the problem . It was in these two lines :

in cpnav_v3arcade.xml 108 file the code was

Code:

        <navoption>
                        <phrase>settings</phrase>
                        <link>options.php?do=options&amp;dogroup=arcadegeneral&amp;advanced=%200</link>

but the 109 file has

Code:

<navoption link="options.php?do=options&amp;dogroup=arcadegeneral&amp;advanced=%200">
                        <phrase>settings</phrase>

after replacing the newest one with the old one, the problem is solved :)

thanks anyway ;)

KW802 05-31-2009 01:08 AM

1.1.0 has been released; first post updated with new attachment & revised Change Log. :)

Biker_GA 05-31-2009 02:01 AM

Great work as usual, Kevin. Cheers!

ArnyVee 05-31-2009 10:01 AM

So, for the new version do we just upload everything and import the new product or are there only certain files we should upload again?

Biker_GA 05-31-2009 11:55 AM

Yepper. Upload the works, and make sure you select overwrite when importing the product file. :)

KW802 05-31-2009 05:14 PM

@AdemGenc: Can you give a link where that is appearing. I am not sure I am understanding the exact question.

@ArnyVee: Yep, just follow Biker_GA's advice and you should have no problems.

AdemGENC, thank you for the screen shot, now I see where you are referring to.

That section is the "Arcade Champions" listing.
"1st" = "First Place" / "Highest Score" / "Champion"
"2nd" = "Second Place" / "Next Highest Score" / "Runner-up"

The current importer available is outdated and is it not recommended to be used. After we get the next major version of v3 Arcade (slated to be "2.0.0" released this summer) we will be working on an updated converter.

Adem GEN? 06-01-2009 02:40 PM

Thank you

TMH63 06-01-2009 04:59 PM

Just updated to the latest version and STILL the submitting scores issue remains.

you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

I have to admit....this is getting pretty old. Any ideas on when a fix is in store or a solution to this will be figured out?

KW802 06-01-2009 05:10 PM

@TMH63: Mind linking to the original problem you reported so I can see what's going on? Assuming that you changed your usergroup permissions, you should be fine.

Those issues seemed to have cleared up.

What's this about usergroup permissions? And what does it pertain to?

Biker_GA 06-01-2009 05:30 PM

You have to go into each usergroup you want to allow access to the arcade and set the permissions. This is detailed in the instructions that come with the arcade package. ;)

I own the site, am a super admin and I get the errors. Usergroup permissions as I know them to be have zero bearing on me or my other members getting the error I stated above. That's why I'm looking for further help on the matter.

Biker_GA 06-01-2009 05:46 PM

The instructions state you must go into each usergroup and allow that usergroup access the arcade. This includes the Administrator usergroup.

It's been that way since day 1! Every usergroup including guests can view the arcade.

I have it setup as this....
->Admin and mods have full reign to play.
->Users awaiting email confirmation and guests can only view it.
->Registered user MUST have at least a total post count of 2 and must post at least once per day to play.

KW802 06-01-2009 06:14 PM

TMH63, Biker_GA: It may be 'browser' issue at work here.

TMH63: Is it happening with everybody or just certain users? With all games or just certain games? If everybody, get in me private over at v3Arcade.com so I can take a look at the URL to see if I can spot anything. If just certain users, do you happen to know what browser & version of the browser they are using? If all games, get me in private so I can take a look. If just certain games, do you know if they are v3A games or IPB games? I suspect it's the IE7/IE8 problem that has come up on occasion but the more info the better.

I haven't ran IE in YEARS. Latest version of firefox is what I'm using. I can never get my members to get me constant and reliable feedback on exactly what games and when they get the error I posted above. They just tell me that they are getting it.

But to your question, it's not every game. I uploaded a game today....played it the 1st time and obviously got the high score. Played it again now 4 times and got the error above. As talked about in the v3 forums, it's most likely a cache issue of some sort. If I remember correctly, they are mostly all IPB games where the issues arise. It would have to be....are there more than 10 v3 games out there? lmao

I'll check the v3A forums for your posts to get the details.

Sarcasm aside, there are quite a bit of "v3 games' out there (just search Google). Getting permission from the game creators to redistribute them is another matter.

If you mean allowing guests to play and they are reporting issues, that is no real concern of mine as I do not allow the unregistered to do anything on my site other than to view.

You might not care but others certainly do. In regards to the v32 score problem, I have a fix that I believe will take care of it. It is working as expected on my test site and am just waiting to hear back from some others trying it on their sites before I release "v3 Arcade 1.1.1" to the public (those with access to the betas over at v3Arcade.com can download it now).

Sorry, there is no estimated date for either the new major version nor for an updated converter. With the changes that will be in the next major version, a converter likely won't be worked on until after the next major version is released.

Good to hear! I'll be waiting.

KW802 06-02-2009 11:15 PM

v3 Arcade 1.1.1 has been posted. :)

I was not planning another update this fast but the problem was important enough to get this worked on as a priority item and to get the update available to the v3 Arcade community as soon as possible.

In a nutshell... if you have been experiencing problems where certain games seem to randomly display a "No Permissions" error instead of saving the scores, you'll want to install this update.

Please note: If after installing the update you still get the occasional report of a user having a problem, please ask them to clear their browser cache before trying again. The code changes should kick in immediately without needing them to clear their cache, but just in case...

ArnyVee 06-02-2009 11:39 PM

Just uploaded the latest 1.1.1 and I'm still having problems with submitting the score on the Solitaire game.

Just Solitaire or all games in general? This update would not be related to problems with any individual games.

(But I will go play around with Solitaire on my test site... :))

ArnyVee 06-03-2009 12:06 AM

Kevin, the other games all work and can submit scores. Just the Solitaire one won't let us submit the scores.

Mind giving me a link to the actual game on your site either here or over at v3A? The Solitaire that was installed over at v3A doesn't seem to work and, coincidentally, it is not in the v3A Game Store either so I'm not sure where it came from. I'm searching what old threads I can to see what the deal with that particular game is.

ArnyVee 06-03-2009 12:34 AM

Here's the link Kevin....

Yep, that's the one I thought it was. I've removed it from the demo arcade at v3A since I can not account for where it came from. After doing some Google searches it appears that version of the game has issues and has been updated over the course of time (the cards have a different design and the layout at the bottom of the screen is different). What I did not find was the game creator's 'home site' to get the current status of the game.

I'll keep an eye out for any Solitaire games that are freely available.

ArnyVee 06-04-2009 12:06 AM

Alright, we'll keep an eye out for the Solitaire game. :)

I still have to see how to remove and add games because I have a couple that I've downloaded, but I haven't been able to get them to work yet :(
