@ Jedi, where do you find the YouTube permalink on the Google Video page?
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...70482484764613 Thanks! |
sorry, I may not be explaining this right.
I have a test forum that I use specifically testing plugins. In this test forum, I created a new thread with a single post. In this post, I have two URLs. One of these urls are using the old "media" tag. The other url is using the new "ame" tag. I ran the convert tool, to convert the media tag in this post to a URL tag. Then, I ran the Rebuild to try and convert the URL tag to an ame tag. Unfortunately, that did not work. So, in this post, there is still two sets of URLs enclosed in BBCode tags, but one url is surrounded by the URL tag (converted from the "media" tag), and the other url surrounded by the ame tag (which didn't and shouldn't have changed). I cannot seem to get the URL tag to be converted to the ame tag. |

should I just uninstall 2.5 RC 1 and install 2.0.2? Do you think this will fix my problem?
Sorry to be impatient, but my forums are now sitting with 500+ non-hyperlinked video URL's with a media tag around them instead of the video being displayed (because I uninstalled GoldBrick). |

Why was this video working fine until I upgraded? |

Upgrading wouldn't have made a bit of difference. The definitions work exactly the same as before. You've just stumbled across some videos that you hadn't tried posting before. AME has never been able to distinguish between multiple types of embed code. It can only convert to one embed code per site. |
So if it is a google video, why is it not showing? Did you not say that google videos would embed fine?
|
Yes, did the one you posted not embed for you? I tested it on my forum and it embedded okay.
@sweeps78: Which video had the media tags, the first or the second? I see the second one as embedded, but not the first. |
The first video had the media tag, but when I ran the Conversion tool, it changed the media tag to a url. The second video was using the ame tag from the beginning.
thanks:) |
Sweeps, Im confused by what your problem is...
If you had a post that had AME AND another media bbcode and then ran the conversion tool so that particular post only had a URL and an AME tag, then when you rebuild, set the Ignore Previous to yes so that it won't skip that post. Regardless, 2.02 wont solve the problem as the conversion and rebuilding features are pretty much the same. |

Hmmm well all I can say is I did an upgrade...then because the permissions were not correct, I edited and then saved the thread to make sure it was updated...at that point is when it stopped working.
|
I am utterly confused here. If you are asking why the google video was working before the upgrade and now it isnt... than its because its coincidence. They changed format about the same time you upgraded. Google video will more than likely not be supported moving forward and I can't actually think of a system that could.
The engine that controls the embedding hasn't really changed very much since 2.0.2, its mainly just been optimised and additional areas of support added. HTHs :) |

So if I understand correctly, there is a post that has a URL in it that didnt convert (inside your test forum)?
If so, please provide the URL you think should be working so I can test it on my end. Secondly, make sure you have disabled any potentially conflicting add ons (like the other media one). |
here's the URL of the thread that I have in my test forum:
http://forums.trossenrobotics.com/showthread.php?t=2466 Here are the steps that I did: I created that new thread, adding two links: one link using the media tag, the second link using the ame tag. Next, in admincp -> AME CP -> Tools, I ran the convert tool. When I checked the thread above after I ran the conversion, the media tag was changed to a url tag, and the second url, as expected, was not changed and was still using the ame tag. Finally, again in admincp -> AME CP -> Tools, I ran the Rebuild -> Posts. I chose the options that I stated in this post and ran the rebuild. There were a couple of problems with the rebuild. The main problem, is that the url that was changed from the media tag, was not changed to an ame tag. The other problem with the rebuild is that I specified it to go back a week, but when I clicked Save, it displayed 29 pages, with only 3 of them being within that specified week. |

hi, just installed this great mod (i mean the RC1) but when i tried to update my signatures i've got this error
Quote:
edit: i just tried to put a video into my sign but it doesn't works ... :( CHECK yourself :( |
There a problem of it embedding http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7wQzxln9N8. I think its because of the title as the post says

If I copy and paste that URL, this is what is really being pasted:
[url="http://www.pathtovideo.com"][color=http://www.pathtovideo.com]http://www.pathtovideo.com[/ color][/ url] So, effectively the title of that URL is the HTML for the font color. In other words, the title is: <font color="blahblahblah">http://www.pathtovideo.com</font> The tags inside other tags were breaking the HTML output so I have made adjustements for the next release to prevent that however if you just edit the post in a non wysiwyg editor in the meantime, all will be well :) |

btw, my signs are enabled but they don't work ... :S edit: i tried to put 'container' in the field but nothing to do ... |
Have you checked permissions too? Also, I suspect your snapshots link may be interfering.
|
yes the UG's permissions are all settled to 'YES' ...
the snaps? but the videos into the post are working correctly ... edit: i've already checked in the Social Groups/Visitor Mess: all runs correctly ... so the trouble is only into the signs ... :( |
Not just the permissions... admincp->Amecp->settings.
The signatures are disabled by default :) |

Great hack,
I am nt sure what happen all my youtube video is displaying ok. but when press the play it display the video is no longer available. |
This is because the publisher of the video has disabled embedding. 2.5 helps to minimise this :)

Just installed this on a fresh forum install and Im getting this error:
Warning: include([path]/amecache/findonly.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/includes/ame_bbcode.php on line 74 Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening '[path]/amecache/findonly.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in [path]/includes/ame_bbcode.php on line 74 Line 74 reads: include($path . "findonly.php"); Where is findonly.php it supposed to be in the /amecache folder but its not there? Regards |
Check that the server can write to the amecache folder and that the cache settings are correct in your Ame admincp. Afterwards, save the settings to re-write the file cache.
