Has anyone ever solved the 7% error on step one? I've tried several ways to work around it, but so far without success. It's been posted to the thread here twice, but I could never find a solution.

Here's where I stop:

Installation Progress 7%

Step 1 of 13: Testing Settings
Verbose output enabled. Detailed real-time status messages will be displayed.
Status before enumerating steps: XML parser created: phrases from /includes/xml/vbms_installation_resources_phrases.xml, templates from /includes/xml/vbms_installation_resources_templates.xml

That's it. No more...

Help?

Lets see new coder said something back in sept that they coded a lot already on this yet its dec now and no word? Please can we hear back on a status to know you are alive and still working on this or not anymore.

This is exactly what I need - fantastic mod and I hope it gets going again soon.

Meanwhile I have installed on my test forum which went smooth and can receive emails but get this message when I try to send an email:
Warning: mail(): Bad parameters to mail() function, mail not sent. in /includes/vbms_class_mail_message.php on line 556

Any help is greatly appreciated!

It really amazes me how people don't take the time to read. I have this hack installed on a live site with no problems. And yes, I had problems with the install. How did I fix them? I read everything from page 1 and tried a few of the fixes offered up by other members until I got one that worked for me.

As much as I would like to see this get a full release, I have my doubts that it will happen... But, I just deal with the parts I can't offer my members and still offer them free e-mail... They are happy, I am happy...

Too many people expect a million dollar mod for free and complain when they don't get it.... Yet, they still run Windows and pay for it....

Thanks to everyone that has worked on this project to make it functional enough to at least send and receive e-mail. And for the effort of all the coders that made their own little fixes then posted them here for everyone....

Not to break or annoy anyone..why not go with socketmail for an email service that can use vb as well :)

i think vbms is better, is there anyone can really intregate vbulletin with socketmail here???

PS- vbms is great...but its development is too slow. Thats the problem..If Vbms started developing, having its own forum, member base which added its own plugins for email..I guarantee it would rock..but the fact is the development is too slow and theres not enough features that would drive you use to use the vbms...

If Krofh (coder) started pushing the development further and a dedicated forum or site for it..it might just push off...but right now it looks too unappealing to me.

Anything using a catch all account is a bad idea. I just uninstalled this hack because every day the catch all account was being clogged with 20,000 ++ undeliverable emails

Here's a glitch I am having....

It runs great even on vB3.7 Beta 5 for me except when local users in the Forum send to other local users in the Forum the message body isnt picked up and appears blank, but if you send an email from outside to the Forum email address or send one out from local to external, all appears fine.

Anyone any pointers as to why this would be happening?

i got always this error message while installing: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: imap_open() in /home/gsmptnet/public_html/includes/vbms_class_installer.php on line 790

I've uncomment the line ";extension=php_imap.dll" and restarted apache, but still same problem...

I as well get the same Fatal error and then it just sits there on like 7%.

tried to recompile apache again, upgraded from php4 to php5 with imap included, and problem remains.... after that i asked my host to do it for me, to check if anything was failing, and they recompile it again....
but problem is still the same... checking willitrun.php i get:

Yeah, I have tried everything I can think of and still at a loss. Just scraped it for now unfortunatly. Hope to get some time to figure it out or someone else might know.

Krofh, I just read thru 14 of your support pages and plan to read the rest -> I see a problem I am experiencing has already been addressed with "options.zip" on page 11/12. Thanks for a great hack, I am running vb 3.6.2 with PHP Version 4.4.7 and your VBMS installed flawlessly and nominally seems to be working fine on my excellent Surpass Hosting shared server . . .

. . . with one exception! I am not good at all with php OOP and "imap_headerinfo" does not support the header "Envelope-to:" which both my servers use to forward mail to VBMS. In other words with the original charter & surpass server address left remaining in the "To" and "cc' fields VBMS will not pick up my forwarded mail at all and leaves it sitting there in my "catch all" account untouched or worse, depending on settings, DELETED. Anything mailed directly to a user alias is getting thru just fine which leads me to believe it's not really a VBMS flaw but a simple shortcoming I have tried for two weeks now to overcome myself . . .

. . . with still no success!

QUESTION! I do know how to use "imap_fetchheader" instead to garner the mailbox/host string needed which is embedded in "Envelope-to" but I don't know the php header class/object code needed to update the imap_headerinfo "to" address so VBMS can detect it.

UPDATE! PROBLEM FIXED
I settled on the roundabout method and using substr()s returned via "imap_fetchheader($connectionhandle, $i)" placed the Envelope-to: aliases[$i] into a separate array which thru simple substitution code in "vbms_functions_checkmail.php" I was able to get VBMS to pickup my forwarded mail no problem!

In vbms_checkmail_get_aliases_from_headers($headers, $_alias, $i))

Mind you this function is called twice, once from vbms_checkmail.php and the other from within another function which you can simply cut and paste out just prior to the call in the main script (but don't forget to pass it the extra resulting "aliases" parameter!)

That is the comments in the file where the error is occuring. You might recheck your POP3 settings and go from there.

Hi,

Ive managed to get this to work, apart from one problem!

If you send a message from VBMS to a Hotmail account, it dosent get delivered. You can send from hotmail to VBMS and oher numerous email providers and it works fine.

Anyone else experienced this problem or have any idea how I may resolve it?

This is because Hotmail has a whitelist-only spam filter. Instead of just filtering out emails from blacklisted domains, they have a tendency to only allow emails from whitelisted domains.
I wrote a plugin for a friend's site awhile back that would fetch your MSN Messenger contacts and invite them all to the forum... unfortunately this was the biggest obstacle, and what we discovered after about three solid weeks of looking into it that is that they wanted us to pay a rather significant amount of money to be whitelisted. On the other hand, I'm affiliated with other sites that don't pay, but I think in those cases there are thousands of users clicking the "not spam" notifications on the emails.
Not sure completely if I'm all right on this information, but either way my experience with trying to get emails to Hotmail/MSN was pretty shitty. I recommend an Internet-wide boycott.

Ive just tried sending an email from my @mysite.com which is set up in outlook express and even that dosent get through. I can understand hotmail need to stop spam, but blocking every single address unless its on a white list is quite excessive.

I would like to start by saying that this is a great add-on for vB, & look forward to adding & getting this system to work properly on my site...

Although I have been encountering some errors, I have been working with my hosting company to correct these problems, the IMAP system is a pain in the arse...

But once that was correcte, I have been stopped by yet another delema!

The images attached below will show the information that I am entering (confirmed by my hosting company) is correct! And still I am encountering the error mentioned in your original post claiming to be incorrect login information.

Please advise further on what I am to do to correct this, I would be happy to give you my admin login & any other necessary information to correct this issue for me. I am of extreme frustration with this project, and wish to finish it so that I can move onto other projects...

hi guys i have using this mod for 10 months, maybe i have bad news now :

if you send message to gmail, it will broken and knowing from (unknown sender) in gmail

maybe the problem is in gmail it self

if you still use this hack please try to sending a mail to gmail and let us know are you get same problem?? if yes so we must find the fix
