Anyone found a way round this duplicate posting/quick reply problem?

eXtremeTim 09-26-2006 12:40 PM

Its only a cosmetic problem cuased by the posting delay and users replying quickly. I will be changing the delay time soon to a smaller value to hopefully reduce or eliminate this issue.

begore 09-26-2006 12:57 PM

Great, thanks!

hotwheels 09-26-2006 09:26 PM

romeo, try this one

It's still working on my 3.6, just overwrite the ewt file.

tokosan 09-26-2006 09:54 PM

great mod but had to disable due to too many bugs in 3.6.1 :(
bugs i found:
1. every time you post, you see duplicate post error (you can still post tho)
2. when you create a thread, you get that header error almost every time
3. bot doesnt make sense sometimes (uses . as if the bot thinks . is a member)
4. replies WAY too fast after you post sometimes

hotwheels 09-26-2006 10:44 PM

K, i will look at it more tonite......thanks for trying it.

hotwheels 09-26-2006 10:47 PM

romeo, what version of mysql are you running at your site?

Romeos Tune 09-26-2006 11:07 PM

4.027.....What about yourself?

hotwheels 09-26-2006 11:15 PM

hey romeo, just a couple quick questions?

1st, did you go into your admin panel and actually give your bot a userid? When i set mine up, i went into add new user which his name is dugdug, then i gave him a password and set him up as a supermoderator. This setting give's the bot the understanding of what he is supposed to do, without it, it will post up an error call.

2nd, when you go into the vbulletin options, scroll down to where the talkerbot settings are at, how are your's set? Mine are set as such:

talkerbot active: yes
talkerbot quote: no
User To Associate The Bots Posts To: which is the number of the userid i just set up, whom's name is dugdug and his user id is 109 per say.
Forums Talkerbot Should Reply In: I set up his own forum area but in here i just put 1 forum number like, 131 persay....
Forums Talkerbot Should Read Posts In: this number needs to be the same as the above number, so you would add like, 131.
Use Rate Of Posting System: set to no

Let me know if you are set up like the above......thanks. hotwheels

hotwheels 09-26-2006 11:17 PM

My host is running MySQL - 4.1.21-standard

Romeos Tune 09-26-2006 11:18 PM

Maybe it's the quote.....Mine's yes..... Lemme try your settings.....brb

hotwheels 09-26-2006 11:20 PM

okay, also i can't remember for sure, but you are on 3.6 or higher right? of vbulletin? It show's 3.5 in the post bit, that's why i am asking.

Romeos Tune 09-26-2006 11:29 PM

Yep, that's how I set mine up as well.....Ok, our settings are the same now but it's still giving me that error. I guess I could upgrade mysql to 4.21.... Is anyone else having this problem using my version that you know of?

Romeos Tune 09-26-2006 11:30 PM

Yeah, 3.6.....I'm just too lazy to update that.... lol

hotwheels 09-26-2006 11:35 PM

k, try this one

hotwheels 09-26-2006 11:38 PM

If that doesn't work, i too would like to know if anyone else that is having error's, what their mysql verion is.

and i will be on/off romeo as i am at work right now, so ya know....

Romeos Tune 09-26-2006 11:44 PM

Nope..... Same thing...... ackkkkkkkkkk

hotwheels 09-27-2006 01:15 AM

Romeos Tune 09-27-2006 01:28 AM

Shoot.....No luck....... lol Can't believe it's working for so many people.

hotwheels 09-27-2006 01:29 AM

hotwheels 09-27-2006 01:30 AM

Romeos Tune 09-27-2006 01:34 AM

hotwheels 09-27-2006 07:47 AM

dupont24 09-27-2006 09:38 AM

I have sports and news rss feeds active on my site and the talkerbot does not respond to them. Is it possible to change that so the bot responds to those posts as well?

Thanx

How do you completely uninstall this hack?

I need to test things, and am awaiting v3 :D

Thanks.

bashy 09-27-2006 05:38 PM

Hi Tim...This is now causing an issue with (non bot) posting
When a post is submitted the forum will hang, it posts the post no probs but it just hangs, I have turned the bot off and its fine again!

Any ideas please?

I've asked that 3 times now, will be patient :)

hotwheels 09-27-2006 07:55 PM

you need to get rid of the files in your forums database, where ever you have that installed, then uninstall the product.......then go to your phpmyadmin and get rid of:

bot
bots
conversationlog
dstore
gmcache
gossip
patterns
templates
thatindex
thatstack and vbbots

and that should do it......

hotwheels 09-27-2006 07:57 PM

Romeo i got it........I recieve no error of any sort now, and found a typo in the code.

I bet it works "this" time.....and anyone that was recieving the mysql error, should try this php file and see if it get's rid of the error and helps your bot to start functioning.

I was having the same problem and it did fix my database error. Now the only other thing I can't figure out is that everytime I load my botloader, it does not populate my database. I have tried about 16 times, but no luck, do you have a pointer for me on that? And how does the botloaderinc.php work for loading them individually?

Thanks much,

doug
http://jaxdoug.com

hotwheels 09-27-2006 08:40 PM

Can you show me here, what happen's after you run the botloader? That way i can get an idea of what to look for? Sorry if it is posted in here somewhere, just haven't had time to reread the pages.

Also, do you have access to your phpmyadmin? If so, look and see if you see the word bot on the left hand side in your database. This is where the .xml will appear, and you can name your bot and basically give him somewhat of a personality.

Then make sure all of your files are set to chmod 0777 at alice, and and all of the subfolders and the files.......every file inside of alice need's 0777. After running the botloader.php, you should see pattern and template inside your phpmyadmin, where the bot's response's are stored.

LPC 09-27-2006 08:46 PM

it say 0 files have been upload to data base. Here is my dbprefs.php

Code:

# This is where all the AIML and startup.xml resides
$rootdir= "/xxxxxxx/xxxxx/xxxxx/jaxdoug.com/httpdocs/forums/alice/aiml/";

require('xxxxxx/xxxxxx/xxxxx/jaxdoug.com/httpdocs/forums/includes/config.php');

$DB_HOST=$config['MasterServer']['localhost'];
$DB_UNAME=$config['MasterServer']['xxxxx'];
$DB_PWORD=$config['MasterServer']['xxxxx'];
$DB_DB=$config['Database']['xxxxxx'];

Of course I X'd out the rest of my path and database information.

Thanks,

Doug
