if you have it set to check for ips, it will pm you and open a thread in the forum you like if you've set it to. for people with dynamic ips, you'll possibly get some false positives.

it's checking for cookies, so making two accounts with two different computers would not trigger this. the multiple account reg hack checks for these cookies and also hits for the same ip, which could trigger it if you were not using an account from an exempted user group like admin.

Anyone?

SpeedJunkyz 01-25-2008 12:32 AM

im not sure how to setup the option/settings can someone help me please?

Makc666 01-25-2008 02:42 PM

There is some sort of BUG in this mod.

If in Help AE Multiple Login Detection Settings you set:
  • Userid of who PM sender / Alert poster -> 1
  • ForumID For AE Multiple Login Detection reports -> 12 (for example)
  • Enable New Thread Creation on Multiple Login Detection? -> Yes

Then when some user will be "tripped AE detector" and a new thread will be created, then that post/thread will be created with IP address of that user "tripped AE detector"!

Then if you will search for your user's id=1 posts you will see many users had posted from your account of user id=1.

To avoid this one always create a BOT user on forum and set
Userid of who PM sender / Alert poster -> Bot's User ID! :)

Any news for 3.7?

Boofo 01-29-2008 05:45 PM

Have you tried it with 3.7 yet?

This cleared things up for me. I don't know why but I thought this checked multiple logins to the same account.

Very cool!

forumrunt 02-03-2008 03:02 PM

Just wanted to say thanks for this hack it works wonderfully!

vwdforum 02-03-2008 04:37 PM

anyone tried with 3.7?

David Bott 02-05-2008 12:09 PM

Anyone have any idea on why this may be happening?

It does not happen on all account detections, but this one seems to come up a lot.

I really wish the developer was still around.

Videx 02-08-2008 11:25 PM

Ya, we can't get this baby to trigger today. I removed all ignored users and have tried logging in and out as admin and a regular user and still no PMs. The cookie exists and shows two user id's.

Must be a modification disabling it but I sure can't imagine which one. It was working fine for a while, but I don't know when it stopped.

It works for me. But I already had it installed before I upgraded.

stwilson 02-16-2008 05:29 PM

It worked for me on 3.7B5.

Moyses 02-24-2008 07:27 PM

Thanks! You're great man! ;)

PS.: my current ver.: 3.0.4 Beta

Boofo 02-24-2008 08:02 PM

You mean 3.7.0 beta 4, right?

Sorry I went off on something else and forgot all about this.

Still not working...I did not use my admin account when testing it. I was using two registered user accounts I have. And on the same box it does not go off when I log in with each of them....

Can users using newer browsers block these cookies?

choccyclaire 03-03-2008 07:57 PM

Doesn't work on 3.7 Beta 5. Not for me anyways.

mark|3 03-08-2008 03:36 AM

is there a way to reset. so that i can check and be sure that it's a real multi account daily before i am able to take action?

Kadi 03-08-2008 03:54 PM

Hi,

How do you edit the message that gets posted? I searched in phrases but couldn't find it.

I hope this useful hack gets upgraded to 3.7.0!

Thanks.

codershark 03-08-2008 04:14 PM

I hope this will updated for vbulletin 3.7 too.

On 3.7 Beta 6 dont work it.

glennybee 03-22-2008 09:27 PM

I have this mod installed and I think it's great. Been waiting for it to trip and it has just done so.

I checked the ip addresses of the two accounts and they are different. The first 2 ranges are the same but the second 2 are different. I sort of understand that this works on storing data from cookie cache (I think lol) so could someone explain to me please how this has happened?

Thanks.

if you don't have dupt ips (either in the case or turned on) then it is looking for new cookies this plugin sets. so if someone logs into more than one account from the same computer, and therefore has cookies set from different user accounts by the plugin, it will trigger. if you have 2 users who share a computer, it could be a false trigger, but in most cases, it means someone has signed up for more than one account.

SuperJETT 03-23-2008 07:54 PM

Works for me on 3.7 RC1

denman75 03-24-2008 06:39 AM

No wonder it doesn't work. You have it installed on a future version. ;)

lol

3.6.8 :p

Boofo 03-24-2008 08:32 AM

I had it trip a while back on 3.7. But all the time I had it installed on 3.5.4, it never tripped once. The reason it tripped on 3.7 was a member logged into her account from her friend's computer who was also a member here. So I knew about it already. But it was nice to see the hack work finally. I had my doubts. ;)

glennybee 03-24-2008 12:21 PM

Thanks goddess_dix. :)

i'd been running it on 3.68 and had it trip several times. i turned off ip dupt identification, because i was getting false positives from aol members and the like. but i've also had it identify people who had more than one account and got rid of a spammer trying to reregister thusfar. it's worked very well for me, and i do feel better knowing there's not as good a chance that banned users will be able to fly in under the radar with a new account.

v12kid 03-24-2008 10:27 PM

installed, thanks!

pcoskat 03-31-2008 02:28 PM

Any chance of getting this for 3.7 with one modification:

Instead of sending a PM, my preference would be to create a new thread in a designated forum. Possible?

Thanks! (This is probably my all-time favorite mod)

Did you look in the vbulletin options menu under:

AE Multiple Login Detection Settings

it can be PM or new thread in a selectable forum.

This phares are hardcoded in the products code (file).
Open the products file and edit there and after reinstall the product.
Or edit this one via "Plugin Manager".

styleforum 04-11-2008 03:17 AM

So... how about that "new version" of this that was supposedly being tested?

Mainly, I'd just like to be able to have it add replies to a certain thread rather than make a new thread every time it trips. This would keep my PM box a lot cleaner and allow other mods to see the messages as well.

This option is already available.

go to your admin CP

click on vB options

Find this hack and click on it.

you will see an option for PM's or to post a new thread in any forum you select.
