ty cyb for ur fast fix for this great mod installed ;)

liwo 07-30-2007 02:47 PM

Is this just at our forums or can anyone confirm that guest viewers can accept the forum rules?

Quick fix: add usergroup 1 to the list of excluded usergroups

redraider 07-30-2007 10:42 PM

I installed it, but when the forum rules page comes up, the timer stays at 20 sec. Please help, why would that be happening?

Thanks

Valter 07-30-2007 10:53 PM

It may be your browser or something.

I have tested this on IE7, Opera 9.x, and Firefox 2.x, and it worked with no problems.

redraider 07-30-2007 11:17 PM

I am running Firefox : Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.5) Gecko/20070713 Firefox/2.0.0.5

I tried on Netscape
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20070321 Netscape/8.1.3

and IE 7.0

Its stuck at 20 seconds .... .do I need to check anything to figure out what could be wrong?

It could be one of the settings on my system?

Please advice

EDIT:

We changed the $vbphrase[cybfrules_not_agreed] Phrase and retested, now it works. maybe there was a hidden char in it which caused the error.

I think this could be the answer, how can we change a phrase?

To find/customize phrases use Phrase Manager in AdminCP.

redraider 07-31-2007 10:01 AM

Thanks cyb,

but that didnt work either. I am not sure why only this piece of javascript is not working ..... :(

Any leads would be helpful, if i put the time as 0, then things work fine, its just that javascript code.

redraider 08-01-2007 02:29 PM

Anyone :| have any ideas why this could be happening even when i am using the latest browsers?

I tried using other computers to see if there was something wrong with my own system, but they didnt work from any!

PersianImmortal 08-02-2007 09:55 AM

It might be one of the other mod(s) on your forum which is causing this. Have you checked your other mods, and perhaps disabled them temporarily to see if that helps?

CNBAforo 08-03-2007 05:27 AM

Great Mod!!!

KURTZ 08-03-2007 01:33 PM

al.vb 08-03-2007 01:49 PM

installed and works great! thanks

Love the hake HATE the green button. I just couldn't find the phrase mentioned so I went around it.

I turned off the link and added my own.

This one you can change the color to whatever you want. Not sure it it works with the other features of this hake but if you just want the link then try this.

I moved this over to the center right past the calendar but you can put it anywhere you want.

Code:

<td class="vb menu_control"><a href="LINK"><font color="#ff0000">Forum Rules</font>
</a></td>

This link is colored red but you can swap that for anything or just remove the color tags and you will get the standard button.

If you want to see it live heres a Demo.

Valter 08-11-2007 03:45 PM

Phrase name is cybfrules_rules

Remove FONT tags to use default color or change color parameter value to any you like.

cynthetiq 08-11-2007 04:24 PM

anyone have examples of what they put up as their forum rules?

Cybernetic, what is your view on this?

Valter 08-11-2007 06:32 PM

1. May be added but no promises.

2. Disable counter.

jasculs 08-13-2007 12:49 AM

Can you also make this so individual forums have specific rules and the users have to accept the rules before entering an individual forum?

CNBAforo 08-20-2007 09:39 PM

When a user registers, rules don't appear as they appear to registered users, with the counter and that stuff. Any idea what could be wrong?

Scandal 08-22-2007 09:40 PM

When a user register (+ accept the rules from register form) and activate his account, he has automatically the message for rules by this hack.
As he has accept the rules from the register form, i think that the message shouldn't appear...
How could I turn this function off?

[sorry for my bad english!]

Thanks!

Simple, I want to reset user's acceptance status only from his profile.

When a user register, accept the forum rules from the register form.
After, when he login with the account, he has the message to accept the forum rules AGAIN from this hack. :(

Valter 08-23-2007 10:08 PM

You could separate registration rules from posting/general rules for members.

For example leave default vBulletin rules to be accepted during registration, and uset this hack to list all important rules to be accepted before user start posting/sending PMs etc...

Good idea!

I leave the basic site rules on registration form (disclaim responsibility for messages, no double accounts etc ) and I use the Advanced Forum Rules System for the rules about Posting ;)

Bump again..

Valter 08-31-2007 10:03 AM

I'll never answer this question again. It has been answered already a hundred of times. No hard feelings.

mauro1947 08-31-2007 06:35 PM

I installed and configurated the mod, but i didint see it in action :(
What im doing wrong?, because misc.php?do=cfrules works perfect....

Thanks
Regards!
PS: I did the template edits, but rules are not shown when a users go to register, i only see the default vBulletin page....

lazserus 09-03-2007 12:48 AM

This modification only works with Internet Explorer. Members using Firefox will never see this modification. I'm not sure which part of the mod differs between the two browsers, but I've done extensive testing, and IE seems to be the only compatible browser. An update to encompass both browsers would be excellent.

Alibass 09-03-2007 01:49 AM

@lazserus

Mate you said the same thing about 'force user to read' hack. This hack works fine with FF or IE and I recommend all my members to use FF to view my board.

In case others don't use the combination I'll post the same thing I did in the other thread. I ran a test on two different machines with identical results. Then I had someone on the other side of the globe (I'm in the U.S. and my tester is in Sweden) get identical results. If we used FF on the forums the modifications didn't work. If we used IE the modifications worked just fine.

I forced one of my moderators to read the rules and he could login and go about his business as long as he was using FF. As soon as he launched the forums in IE and logged in he was forced to read the rules. That's a pretty uncanny coincidence.

Please can you create temp admin account for me so I can check your forums. I need access to options/styles/products. Send me info via PMs.

It is not accurate, becouse only usergroups 5,6,7 (SuperMods, Admins, Mods) with setting "Can Moderate All Forums" set to Yes are able to reset acceptance status.

I have one usergroup of mods (without permissions to all forums - they have permissions only for specific forums) and they are not able to reset acceptance status for other users :-(.

If user X is in usergroup 5 (SuperMods, mentioned setting in admincp set to Yes), he has the option to reset. If I transfer him to usergroup 7 (Mods, mentioned setting to No), he has not the option to reset and if I set the mentioned setting to Yes (and he is still in usergroup 7), he has the option to reset suddenly. So I verified that mentioned setting make difference in this.

Is it possible to change it somehow? I would like to give to mods option to reset acceptance status too (but I don't want to give them permission to all forums, becouse in that case they will be SuperMods too).

BTW: I like your mods and especially your support to them over time!

This sounds similar to my problem, except that my tests have shown that only IE users get the message. However, I have not seen other people mention that they haven't received the notice.

One thing to do in order to test the mod is to create a test user, force the user to accept the rules, then login as the user. You should be able to see it in action this way.

mauro1947 09-04-2007 09:15 PM

I use Firefox and nothing happend.
I will try with IE.
Thanks
Regards!

lazserus 09-04-2007 09:43 PM

See, if it works on IE then this helps hammer home my concern. I just can't figure out what would keep certain Firefox browsers from seeing the results of the mod.

mauro1947 09-04-2007 10:02 PM

For me doesnt work, even using IE...:(

bada_bing 09-14-2007 04:33 PM
