go through the php files to read what is inserted or revert to a db backup

JohnBee 04-16-2005 12:06 AM

pathetic!

There is no excuse for this stuff, seriously we need moderation on hacks.
I will restore and learn from this.

There needs to me be tighter moderation on people adding hacks to the forums
without proper testing!

everyone tells that you should do backup of your files and database or try the hack in a test board first!

a IT professional never installs a new software or a big update (WinXP SP2) before testing it on a seperated PC.

the work from loneranger is very impressive and if anyone wants more good hacks you sould think before you post such agressive words.

JohnBee - please keep your flaming out of the forums. When you bought your license you agreed to modify your files at your own risk. Remember, it's often user error that causes problems and you should always make backups. Please be more polite or don't post in this thread. Thankyou :)

There is beta and full release section.

If someone fails to take those steps the they will just have to take the responsability
for there lack of attention on that.

The hack should be moved to beta section .period. if the time was taken to develop the
hack properly this would not of happened. Yes I did a backup prior to the hack
installtion, but since I do not have SSH access on my server my forums are down
for the weekend.

Do I have a cause for complaint?
Could this of been avoided?

You bet!

Yes, this should be moved from FULL RELEASE to the BETA section with a warning notice.

We have moderators of a forum, that is a community for hacks and hackers yet the moderators are not actually moderating the hacks themselves?

I normally don't like to point out ignorance because you've already done that enough with your post. But come on man.. have you ever taken the time to code a hack properly? Plus, if it's working for other people then the problem could be on your side.

Anyways, as stated above. You modify vBulletin at your own risk. Instead of getting mad at the coder himself, you should be mad at yourself for not trying it out on a test board first.

JohnBee 04-16-2005 12:59 PM

I believe I raised a valid point in all of my posts other than my frustration on the
fact that my forum is offline.

KTBleeding I have read your previous reply as well as this one, and as much as
your intentions seem bound to protect the coders hard work and commendable
incentives by releasing hacks etc. it does not excuse his or her responsibility to
make use of the proper procedures to avoid unnecessary complications on the users
part.

Ignorance or not, At some point we have to draw a line and each side take some
initiative towards prevention. My point entirely revolves around the fact that this hack
should not be in the full release section.

the main problem is that this hack isnt working for you right?

but it works for me and other members.

its like developing software. you have a softwarebuild thats stable and testet, this version will be sold. after a few days a few people will pop up with a problem that the software isnt working on their PCs/Servers. should the developer realy take his product off the market and take it back to beta? well if that would be so how often would we have seen that with the Windows OS?

This hack isnt working for you, ok. but instead of argumenting why this hack should be moved to the beta forum you should better provide the coder with some informations. thats what you, what everyone has to do to help the coder find and fixing bugs in the code.

and now enough of that!
