i dont have much knowledge about seo and things, while i started my forum i installed them in root dir.

/home/username/public_html/

but this looks very bad, as i cannot install any other software script over this.
i want to install some nice portal like script (VB drupal from tamarian).

can someone tell me how do i safely move my forums from root to any other directory ?

/home/username/public_html/newlocation/

I have nearly 300000 pages indexed by google and yahoo, dont want to loose them or get penalised.
how can i re-direct my existing pages to new location

thank you for your time

I think you should not even consider moving your forums to a subdirectory.

1. All the PR you gained on your forums links will vanish.
2. The more deeper the links on your website the less PR they ususally get.

Like if your forums are at /home/username/public_html/ with a PR 5 and then all your forums are likely to get PR 5 as well

Now is your forums are /home/username/public_html/forums/ then your forum root will have a PR of 5 and your forums will get a PR of 4 only. (just checkout my forums or just have a look at vbulletin.org forums itself.) so general rule of thumb is that deeper the links the lesser the PR on them.

After one year of operations, i am considering moving my forums to root to get some usefull PR on my forum links.

The beauty of vBDrupal CMS integration by tamarian is that you can install the Drupal on a separate directory like /home/username/public_html/drupal/
and yet it is fully working with vbulletin. Latest version even allows you to install on a different domain and yet it is wonderfully integrated with vB.
