All,

Our core developer StonyArc has made two great additions for Vbulletin

VBGooglemap:

Shows the location of users based on the googlemap technology (locations).

VBStatsExtended:

This was developed because the topXstats weren't detailled enough.
The statistics framework now holds the following statistics (highly detailed)

Top posters on the bulletin board
Newest members on the bulletin board
Latest replies on the bulletin board
Most viewed threads
Most replied to threads
Top posters on the bulletin board including thread and post %
Your statistics on the bulletin board

You can see both additions on http://www.xboxusersgroup.com/forums

Statistics are only visible to members, the googlemap will only show the additional functions if you are logged in.

Drop us a line if you would like these additions

Screenshots in attachment

Please do not PM me on this Plug-In, ask your question or place your comments, suggestions in this thread as we want to see if people are interested in these add-ons before we are going to release it to the mainstream.

Hope you like it

Kind regards

I'd like a googlemap on my site also. Are you going to have it where users can add their zip code as a profile field and then make a marker on the map based on that or what?

Straight from the developer StonyArc:

Quote:

For US,UK and Canada it would be possible to do that with a script. However if your site has international users this wouldn't be an option because the international maps don't have the same details.

For some countries you could even go as far as using an address script to set the marker.

But only limited to certain areas.

we want to see if people are interested in these add-ons before we are going to release it to the mainstream. The form is not 100% known yet.

For more information you can also check the manual on

Just release it as a beta then, you will quickly see if people are interested.

PS on that link there is only a usage manual, not the hack itself.

Yeah just release it as a beta. I'll be glad to test it. :)

I have a feeling they are doing this because they want money for the hack.

@xug

Please release a (beta) hack, or at least confirm that you are planning to release a free version here at vbulletin.org, or i have no choice then to remove your posts on this subject.

Advertising commercial work is not allowed according to our rules, and until now you have not shown any sign of intending to release this for free here at vbulletin.org.

This is my last official request.

Hello,

We've talked about it internally.

At no stage have we announced that this is a commercial product. The developer (StonyArc) is an IT professional that is also the admin of our site.

He made this to serve the community and not our wallet. These are his first vbulletin projects (VBGooglemap AND VBStatisticsExtentended).

If we ever release a commercial version it won't be here because of the rules.

So expect a release soon enough.

quote StonyArc "I'm still commenting the code and creating the correct xml installer for the extra table.

Registration were not the goal of this posting.

I never said that you had announced it to be a commercial product. What i said was:
until now you have not shown any sign of intending to release this for free here at vbulletin.org.
This might sound the same, but is approaching things from another site. I did try to challenge you to make a statement that it would be released for free before, but you didn't respond to that.

now that you have made it clear that it will not be a commercial hack, it is fine with me. Sorry for the confusion.

This is cool and came here after I saw frapper. The only thing that worried me is that it can literally tell you where someone lives if the zip code is entered. Is there a way to limit people to enter only their city?

I like the google map + I hope I can adapt this to use with the vba links directory. I kind of got stumped around the geocode part since google maps doesn't accept zip codes (at least as far I've seen).

Can someone explain how to release a beta on the modifications?

Is it just adding a thread?

You can download a prerelease of the VBStatExtended on

Hope you like it

hi,
I just installed VBStatExtended and it works great!

How about a chart view, something like this (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?action=stats)?

This is a relativly easy hack. You need to collect the latitude and longitude of each member that wants to participate in a custom field. Then you use a query to get all the participating users GPS info. Then you loop off the java code to create an array of the list. You pop it off and you have a pinned map.

You can get all the google api code you need to do this at http://www.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/ .

one query and you're off.

Of course this is just off the top of my head, I'm using it a bit differently for US members by zipcode from a zipcode db that fetchs gps info for the look ups.

I get this Error Message when
Warning: Division by zero in /VBStatExtended.php on line 498

choosing per page above 64 and then clicking on
"Top posters on the bulletin board including thread and post %"

1) How can I get rid of this error message?
2) How do I get rid of UP?

I'll ask stonyarc to make a version without the userpages included

/edit

http://www.xboxusersgroup.com/forums/VBStatExtended.php?do=gettopgroupstats&displayrecords=200 seems to work fine. He doesn't seem to be able to number of posts or you have a top poster that has still 0 posts.

To correct the issue:

You can change the line 498 and replace it with

if ($gettopgroupstat[posts] == 0){
$gettopgroupstat[posts] = "1"; // PHP DOESN'T LIKE DIVISION BY 0
}
$gettopgroupstat[threadpostratio] = vb_number_format(($gettopgroupstat[threadcount]/$gettopgroupstat[posts]),3);

or download the changed version

Apparently StonyArc already prepped one

you can get the version with userpage integration on
http://www.xboxusersgroup.com/temp/VBStatExtended.zip

you can get the version without userpage integration on
http://www.xboxusersgroup.com/temp/VBStatExtendedwithoutUP.zip

If you all feel like this is ready for release just let me know. We'll make an entry than so we can release the beta for googlemap too.

All,

Just purchased an additional version for my personal site.

You can contact me directly if needed so we no longer need a go-between.

Googlemap release is planned for this week. I sure willing to develop this further with other persons (also applies for the vbstatextended.

The only problem I can forsee for the Google Maps is that they get VERY slow once you get a lot of people on there. We have a test one on Frappr.com that is already noticeably slower with only 100 members on it.

I started to automap all my members since I have many of the locations already. But I saw quickly that the javascript output would be rediculous quickly. It would certainly need pagination. So I opted to code a map for each user to pin all their road trips instead.

Anyway, on one map at frapper there are 665 members. I clicked show all and it made FF unhappy. I allowed it to stop the app. I'm running 1.2GB of RAM on a 2.9GHz P4.

That is why I'll be releasing it in beta. There's no pagination yet.

If I want to release something in beta (vbstatsextended and vbgooglemap) do I just start a new thread in the modifications forums? (first time releaser:))

Thanks

I think so and you check the "in beta" box. Good luck. The map API is cool.
