I've had a gander over to your site and had a look at your source code but there is nothing there to indicate any gaps between your shoutbox and first category.

I suspect it is something to do with your cellpadding or cellspacing settings. This will affect your whole site though and not just this one area.

TBH it looks identical to the spacing between every other category all the way down the site.
