This hacks add a flashing bar at the forum displayed name.

The bar is dynamic and will grow and shrink based on your forum activity

Take a look a the picture

This hack originally is created by Miko. I convert it to vb3.5 and release it with Miko's permission

Read the text file for instructions

Thanks Andreas for pointing me to right hook location

Yes you are more than welcome to release it.
Just leave some credit to vbs :)

THank you for the conversion, save me to do some work later....eheh

Are the bars supposed to be moving? What if we wanted just a static bar? I think the moving is a little distracting.

Based on what is that activity calculated?

The activity is based on the number of posts, threads, and the last time the forum has the last post entried

The bar is not really flashing it is just moving a little :nervous: :nervous:

Is there a way to have it stay static?

Is there a way to have it stay static?

You can create gif files that have the same width as the ones that came with the provided zip, and replace them.

That's pretty cool!
It's a little too busy for my tastes. Would probably be cool if it were in the "Category" bar, only.

But don't get me wrong. It's very cool.

The bars aren't moving for me, it's a solid bar or a bar with a break in the end.

Since your asking does that mean it won't work in certain browsers? Because it doesn't say anything about that in the first post.

I've checked it both FF and IE and they're aren't moving in either one. Any ideas?

There are certain computer or server configuration that won't allow animated gif images. Can you try viewing it on a different computer? I don't think this is problem with the hack tho.

Let's me take a look at your site to see it is moving or not

Your main forum/category doesn't have any posts. If you want the activity show, you will have to do it for the subforum. I tried to register at your site and I didn't receive any email activation

Stitch,

Two quick questions:

1. Can you address the abovementioned comments about the formula causing active forums to be shorter bars while inactive being longer bars? Is it backwards?

2. Is it possible for you to extend this to be mod management useful? It would be great if an email or PM would be sent to the forum mods when activity fell below a certain point for a certain time period.

Thanks.

This one is depended on how active the board is and how often you set your board to be updated. On my old board, I set it to be real time updating and it works correct. I notice there are certain boards that hav this effect.

As for question 2, it is possible but I don't have time right now. I am working on something else.
