Hello,

I'm an admin of site currently using vbulletin 3.9, and we are currently in the process of upgrading to 3.5. We currently have a test board (version 3.5) with a new skin and new products installed. The dilemma I'm facing is the fact that I want to restore the most recent database on to the test board, and then just rename the directory to /forum/. I don't want to, however, lose any of the templates or products installed on the test board.

Would not exporting the template, template history, and product table of the live database work? Meaning, will the products and templates from the old 3.5 database of the test board be saved?

I hope I'm explaining my situation clearly.

All help is appreciated,

Danny

I read your post twice and still cannot get what you are trying to do.

"I don't want to, however, lose any of the templates or products installed on the test board."

why don't you install those templates, products on the main vb3.5 board ?

I found the solution, it was actual much simpler then I thought it would be.

Why would you downgrade to 3.5?

No. Exporting product tables from MySQL will not run product installation code. Best way is to to export the products directly, then import them. Same with styles, download then re-upload.

If unsure, perform the procedure on a test server.

Yes, I did exactly this. I forgot that vbulletin allowed you to directly download a style.

He meant that he is running vBulletin 3.0.9 and wants to upgrade to 3.5.0. :)

Danny.VBT,

Most skins are not cross-compatible between 3.0.x and 3.5.
Concerning products, just export and import them, as tamarian suggested. :)
