MOOD HACK 3.5
This is first and my only vBulletin 3.5 hack because I have no clue! I have tried and tested this on my forum at http://www.itshappening.net/forum/ and the hack can be see in operation at this site.
What does it do?
This hack displays a user's mood in the postbit. The mood is displayed as an image and there are 42 to choose from. Mood can be changed in UserCP=>Edit Options.
Credits:
This hack is based off "mood hack" written by MyIS_Jordan
I have modified his code to work as a template modification in 3.5
MyIS_Jordan pm'd me saying that the modification is ok. Yay
The creation of this hack was inspired by my own members who love this nifty hack.
The hack images are from other sources and the couple my members created.
Installation information on hack:
Template Modification: postbit or postbit_legacy
Files to upload: 1 folder
Picture of hack: original hack for 3.07 to view picture.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I added this <br /> at the start of the modification in the postbit so it would provide a space between reps and the mood image. Remove or keep as desired.

What day or what time, if yesterday, you down load the zip file? Late yesterday afternoon I modified the original zip file to include the following instructions, which I forgot in the very first zip file:
To make the images appear do the following: UserCp >> Control Panel >> Edit Options >> Miscellaneous Options >> Member Mood Display >> Select Image from Drop Down Box >> Save!

I downloaded the zip file today, I realised I could open the files without having to extract them as it was asking me for a password. I've got the drop down box on my usercp but none of the images are showing up? I think it may be something I've done wrong in the coding?

Since this is only a template modification, I must assume that you have done something incorrect; therefore, I think you should take a look at the Profile Field you created and ensure the settings are exactly as instructed including placing one mood image word per line and not all on the same line. Next, open up the template; postbit or (_legacy) template and ensure you have the code exactly as written and in the right location. Honestly, other than those two items and maybe ensuring you uploaded the ?mood folder? to the www.yoursite.com/forum/image/ (http://www.yoursite.com/forum/image/) - folder on your server, I can?t think of anything else that could be wrong.

I think I have done something wrong with the template mod, I've put one mood image word per line so I know that isn't what I've done wrong. I've uploaded the images into the correct folder www.mysite.com/forum/images/mood and I copied the text exactly when I pasted it. Maybe it's the field number that you put in X? That's the only thing that I can think of that might be wrong? I've tried altering it but to no avail. I'll PM you a copy of the text in my template. Sorry about all this :confused:

Same here..i've installed by the instructions down to the T and tried it by selecting a mood in Profile Options..it isnt showing up on the post(s)..just a blank line..
Edit: nevermind, stupid me forgot to chnge one of the fieldX's..the one that matters lol (the one in the condition).

Well, I've followed the step by step instructions and even though I can see the drop down menu in the options and see the images when I test the url, I still can't see them on my forum :( so I gave up and got a drink like you said! Lol.

Put it in Postbit if you are using postbit - member info along the top. Postbit_legacy - member info on the left side. It won't work unless it is in the right template. :nervous:

Iv had a go at this myself, I can update it from the Navbar however there is a catch, it wont redirect you back to whichever page you did it on. [takes you to usercp.php]
Anyone willing to give me pointers so I can "fix" the above problem. And once done i'll willingly post the code here on the forum

Update, I can get it to work bar a few things (I think I really need someone who knows PHP to write a small script cause the way Im doing it now isnt the best)
1. You can update it if you are logged in with the remember me setting checked otherwise it will log you out
2. You'll probably not be wanting to hack your php files (dont think copying one of vB's, renaming it and then hacking it is alowed, if it is Please let me know) else I'll need someone to help code up a new one.

Suggestion:
The user has the option to update his/her mode from the postbit itself, e.g. on vb.org under style you would have a dropdown menu with all the moods and using AJAX you would update it instantly? good idea no?

I know it won't be possible to have moods in the postbit because you would have form tags in side each other which can'r be done. Or if someone knows a trick.
I have managed to place it in my navbar where private message part is, if interested I will release it as a addon during the weekend.

Due to time constraints, I have not found the time to write a new template so the moods can be changed directly from the members ID section, but I expect to have that done ?as a template modification? shortly so it should work in 3.5 and 3.51 equally.

To all those who cannot get this to work, I found the solution:
Use the Postbit_Legacy template and not the Postbit template. For some weird reason, I could not get it to work with postbit only, even though I use that always. Once I added the template code into the postbit_legacy template, it worked like a charm.

Okay, I'm not that bright and I need a little help here. I think I have 90% of it right, but I think I'm screwing it up.......
Do I add the [fieldX] things like this...

First, go back to Admin Control Panel (ACP) and look at the control panel on the left side of page.
Click on User Profile Fields >>expand section >>click on User Profile Field Manager >> locate Member Mood Display and write down the NAME or FIELD#.
For this example,; say the field number is 7 okay? The only thing you change in the script is the FIELD NUMBER AND ONLY THE FIELD NUMBER ? ONE NUMBER ONLY ?
EXAMPLE:
This is the modification code as listed:
<!-- mood hack display start -->
<br /><if condition="$post[fieldX] != ''"><div class="smallfont">
Current Mood: <img src="images/mood/$post[fieldX].gif" title="$post[fieldX]" align="center">
</div></if>
<!-- mood hack display end -->
This is the only change you make:
[fieldX] = [field7] or the number you have on your system
That?s it! Do not insert all those numbers! Just the field number of the profile modification!
----------------------
12/18/2005 Updated and/or fixed some of the pictures and added a few new moods. I have several "Adult" Moods but will only make avaialable by PM...

Simple:
1. Sign on to your message board and open up your admin control panel (ACP) and look at the control panel on the left of the page. Look for ?User Profile Fields.? Expand this section and click on the link titled "User Profile Field Manager. Once new screen appears, locate "Member Mood Display" and click edit. You should see the existing profile that was created already as part of the original modification.
2. Add the new mood names to the list (should be alphabetical) and click save (do not change anything else). The new moods should appear on the list in ?Edit Options? for members to select.
3. Upload the new mood pictures to your site ../images/moods/ and that?s it!
Can I have a copy of your new moods please? My email works here!

Sorry for the long-delay. To fix the SQL-inject exploit, use this as the plug-in code from https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=861512&postcount=81:
if ($_POST['do'] == 'newmood')
{
$vbulletin->input->clean_gpc('p', 'mood', TYPE_STR);
$db->query_write("UPDATE " . TABLE_PREFIX . "userfield SET
FIELD7 = '" . $db->escape_string($vbulletin->GPC['mood']) . "' WHERE userid = '" . $vbulletin->userinfo['userid'] . "'");
eval(print_standard_redirect('updatethanks'));

Please stop posting the other hack here claiming it is an update.
What I have here is simple a template modification and the other is a hack that adds to the program and adding hacks to the software has always been risky.
Just remember, that this improvement requires no additions to the software and only requires modification to a couple of templates and uploading the icons they use that I created.
Because it is a template modification it works on all versions without changes, unless VB changes the software format.
