Hello.

How do I add a field in the registration form that doesn't show up in 'User CP but is added to the database for analysis reporting, later?

I would like to collect data e.g. on how the visitor learned about the site e.g. a dropdown box with a list of names of search engines plus 'other' whereby 'other' can be elaborated in an accompanying text field (e.g. they can add the member's name or other source like print ad name, etc.). I'd like this data added to the database for later compilation.

I prefer not to dismantal the built-in referrer system.

Thanks in advance.

Field Editable by User = Only at registration?

Yes. I'd like to track and store the data in the database, where customers are 'coming from' or hearing about our forum.

Thanks.

*confused*

Once again:
What about just using a custom profile field and setting field Editable by User = Only at registration.?
Then the user can fill it out during signup, but it won't show up in UserCP.

LOL...I thought you were asking me a question not giving me the solution. Boy-o-boy, I'll be glad when I get to the point where I am proficient with all of these great features...but I'm working hard to find out.

Q: What selection to use in the 'Display Page' box - instructions say it will show in the 'User CP' page... -- will this be ignored when the 'Field Editable by User' = 'Only at registration' is selected?

Thanks again.

Yes. Doesn't really matter which "page" you select as it won't show up anyway.
