Removing "last post" from all templates?

Any recommendations on removing "last post" from the forum index and forumdisplay templates, please?

I've tried messing around the code a little, but I've not yet found how to do this successfully.

Any pointers are very welcome, and apologies if this sounds like too much hand-holding being asked for.

Has anybody ever tried to remove the Last Post column? Simply removing the cell does not seem to delete the column.
