im lookin for more of a template thing, because its for a forum skin im makin for someone else....

You won't be able to get a total online in your header without running some queries first.

For others, what would that query be incase you don't want to install the plugin, but have it stand-alone?

Just view the code from that plugin, starting at:

// total online start
and ending at:
// total online end

:)
