Hey,
I think it would be a good idea to have it save the version of the mod from the time you clicked install, and on the page that shows all of the ones installed, maybe have the mods highlighted that have been updated so you can easily find which ones you need to upgrade. I know that not all authors click the email update link, so I think this would be a good idea...

Yes, it would be useful. It would also be useful for it to be displayed in the postbit for the author, so they can see what version a person asking a question has. Of course, you would have to remind people to re-click install each time they upgraded ......

Or there could be a link that says Upgrade that they click whenever they upgrade to the latest version.

Personally I think that when you click on a hack to download it you should get a popup asking if you are installing/upgrading it, and if you say yes, it marks it as installed (just like clicking install).

Yeah, I like that idea.

sometimes people wanna try a hack though
then they would have to go back and click uninstall
guess you can say upgrading though or have a another option...tryout

I don't think it should mark it as installed when you download it...
Downloads (including version number at the time) IMO should be logged by the DB - Then if the person has clicked "Install" if they go to download the latest and newest version, a popup asking if they want to upgrade their version should be shown...

Hmm.... hmmmm.... hmmm...
it would be possible to compare the dateline of the install with the dateline of the attachment, and once the attachment is newer, adding an infobox or something like...
will keep it in mind, when we did the upgrade to 3.5, or remind me if i forget it ;)
