Hide "Edit By ... " For Admin(s)
Author: tnguy3n
Site: http://www.vbviet.org
Another simple template mod to hide "Edit By ..." note for superadmin or admin group. No file hack required, just add one simple conditional to your postbit template to do the trick.
Open postbit(_legacy),
FIND:
<if condition="$show['postedited']">
REPLACE WITH:
<if condition="$show['postedited'] AND ($post[userid] != 1)">
<!-- That's it! -->
If you want to hide "Edit By ..." note for the whole group, replace ($post[userid] != 1) with
!is_member_of($post[usergroupid],6)
where 6 is groupid which you want to hide editby notes, and you should adjust it to your own.

There isn't a setting for this in vBulletin anymore?

Is it one of vbulletin setting options?

It used to be, I thought. I haven't really looked at 3.5 that deep.

Usergroup Manager / General Permissions / Show edited by note on edited messages?

Darn, i didn't see that option when I last checked vBulletin Settings Options.
Well, i guess this mod is still useful if someone want to limit hiding "Edit By ... " note to one individual, say super-admin. :glasses:

sometimes even when you turn off show edited by you want to put a reason that will show why you modified a post
this will break that ability
ex: last edited by Administrator Reason: removed warez link - dont post it again!!!!

Usergroup Manager / General Permissions / Show edited by note on edited messages?
I knew it had to still be there. Thanks Kirby. ;)

You can set who triggers an "edited by" message per group. So you could hide it for super admins, but still allow it to show for all others. Like someone mentioned above, this also breaks the ability to add an edit reason.

This did not work for me. I applied to postbit and postbit legacy, still shows my edit (I edited a post to test, after applying)
I also enabled in usergroup managed (after I edited the post). Any way I can remove it on one particular post at least?

Thank you :)
I did the "Usergroup Manager / General Permissions / Show edited by note" way & it would still show when I edited a message.
Now thanks to you it's finally gone :)

The "1" in ($post[userid] != 1) is the userid for the admin right? Just making sure before I mess something up, lol.

This is not working on my site either as posted above.... As others have said, the "Edited By" still shows up in the posts....?
I ended up using the following conditional instead....
<if condition="$show['postedited'] AND ($post[edit_username] != 'Quarterbore')">
It looks to me like in 3.5.2. that the $post[userid] does not work? I did not check the database to see if there is a field for userid in 3.5.2
Also, someone above asked about the userid... The userid is the member ID that you don't want to show up... UserID #1 is usually your SuperAdmin account (if you didn't change that)...
EDIT 2:
Perhaps I didn't understand... I want this so I can edit OTHER PEOPLE'S ads when necessary without them knowing that I did it as the Super Admin... Perhaps the $post[userid] only means that edits do not show up in teh superadmin's posts (regardless of who did them) ... If so, I don't like that idea!

Assuming that the admin is the first account signed up on the board.
Like, my userid is 7, if you change that to usergroup(6 by default) instead of userid, it'll include all admins

We have a thread going for doing this on a per post basis, figured I would cross link it with here:
