Plugin: Avatars hosted on external server not local

Since avatars can generate a lot of bandwidth usage, one could save a lot of money by giving people the chance to host their avatars on a free image hosting site like imageshack.us

Has anyone tried to make a plugin for this?

Btw: Avatars don't cause thaat much traffic. At least on my site (200+ GB/month) it's only a very small fraction.

Hmz still 5 kb 20 times on every thread page. 2 gb a month on our board i guess

But why is there no option to explicitly take those risks if the administrator chooses so?

edit: hmm oops only see now that "october" didn't mean it was a recent thread here ;) Anyway, this is afaik still not included in vB 3.6.1, and I really think this should be a standard option.

Cause then you'll have those some people who to choose to be ignorant to obvious security flaws moaning and griping to the vBulletin support staff, which then for them including such a obvious security whole would be irresponsible and not of good morales.

More head ache then its worth.
