How do I use a database backup? Urgent!

Hey guys, I was trying to do something in my forum today and I messed some stuff up pretty bad. I think I am going to need to do a full reinstall. Luckily I had the sense to make a backup before fiddling with stuff. But now, I just have a file with a gigantic load of code in it and I dont know what to do with it. What do I do now?

Do you have a control panel like cPanel/Plesk/Ensim?
Do you have SSH/Telnet access?
