Hello,

Thanks in advance for replies... I am having trouble installing some hacks on my forum (running 3.5.0 gold). I was on one hack in particular, the Fork Thread hack 1.0.1 (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=94420) , which enables you to fork content from a users post to a new thread. It requires you to install a product, which I do sucessfully. It then wants me to edit the postbit (or _legacy) template so that I can add in the button to fork the post.

The code I am adding in is:
<a href="newthread.php?fork=1&do=newthread&p=$post[postid]">$vbphrase[fork_this_post]</a>
and I am putting it under:
<if condition="$post['signature']">
<!-- sig -->
<div>
__________________<br />
$post[signature]
</div>
<!-- / sig -->
</if>
so that it displays under the signature.

The first time I made the edit it worked. I then went to edit another part of the template, after saving and testing to make sure it worked, and I got an error. I wish I would've saved it, but no luck. I then uninstalled the product and reverted the template to its original state (using the revert button). So after all this, I reinstalled the product just like before; then came the template edits. The thing is, once I went to the postbit template (EXACTLY like I had done before) I had no option to edit, only customize. I tried customizing it and added in the modifications like before, and it asked me if I wanted to overwrite because there was a template named postbit already. I hit yes, save. I checked to see if it was there...nope. I went back and looked at the code that I had put in, it wasn't there. I can't figure out why I can't edit anymore; and it's not just that template, its ANY template. Only customization, which isn't working.

Help, please!

~Matt

You can't edit a not-customized Template
(Except if you are running in debug mode and operate on the MASTER style which should be a no-no)

Customize - Save. Then you can edit.

Ok, I'm trying to edit every style including the default (by master do you mean default?) and so I hit customize on a template and save with no changes, then go back and edit is still not available... Would pics be helpful?

Perhaps it would help if Mr K pointed out that you won't see the MASTER set unless you are in debug mode. :)

Quoting myself:
(Excape if you are runnig in debug mode and operate on the MASTER style which shoul be a no-no)

And now I'm gonna fix that typos in there :D

And now I'm gonna fix that typos in there :DLOL - it never occured to me you meant 'except', for some reason I read it as 'unless'.

Ok well thanks for explaining that...But I'm not in debug mode. I did what you said, hit customize and save, then I should see the edit button no longer greyed out right? Well it didn't work. :ermm:

Customise is the same as edit.

Customise is the same as edit.

No, I don't think it is. Well, technically yeah, but it's not behaving correctly. Before when I had the edit option, the changes worked. When I reverted and did it over with customize, it won't hold my changes.
