Do you think it would be beneficial to turn vBulletin into a content management system? I mean, do you think I would be able to take full advantage of the natural features already in the software itself? Especially now with vBulletin 3.5?

It depends on what your needs in a cms are.
For some things it could probably be used well, others might need more advanced/specific features.

well, I mean really it would just be page creation with media enhancements, so say I could have an image gallery.
Ideally however, my implementation is a blog and then I have sections with content in them. The image gallery would just be in addition to as an enchancement.

I think that you will find many CMS features as plugins and enhancments here on vbulletin.org
