The home page is way to busy, at first I thought it was a portal and I was looking for the forum link :/ The flashy colors make people focus on them and not the forum. I am not a big fan of the colors either. I hope this helps.

I agree with Kran, your home page lacks any co-ordination and organisation, needs to be more 'neat'. And why do you have links on top of the banner of the site? That doesn't look very good. The colours you're using are okay, but you need to put them in better places. The blue category text on the red isn't a great look, but if you put the blue to use somewhere else it'd look better.

That doesn't look very good.Yeh, I don't like those either... they are links back to the owner organizations' main web sites, and I can't get rid of them. The whole header and color pallete are also client requirements--I've cleaned those up as much as I can get away with.
The blue category text on the red isn't a great look...Are you talking about the bars that say "Forums" and "What's Going On"? On all the machines I've viewed this on, those bars look brown--they look red to you?

The home page is way to busy, at first I thought it was a portalI agree with Kran, your home page lacks any co-ordination and organisation, needs to be more 'neat'.Okay, this I need to explore with you some more.

To some extent, that first page is the portal--there is no larger site of which the forum is a part that has a home page, so the forum home has to serve that function. Somehow this is not working for you. Since I arranged that page, it seems organized to me--What elements are not grouped together properly? Is it the mere presence of the text block on the right side that bothers you?

How would your assesment change if I told you that a large portion of the intended audience for this have never used forums before--and don't know what one is "s'posed to" look like?

Did you look at any of the subsidiary pages--what do you think of the postbit?
