No, I'm not asking for it, nor am I asking when it's coming, because I already know. Why do I know? Well, because I'm writing it :D

Not THAT far in yet though, but with school ending very soon (next Tues.), I look to have it done by say... June 20-25, since I go on vacation very soon after that :)

Ummm... yeah, so watch this space :p

It seems the most improtant hacks are made, or are in the making (memberlist, user image, PM)
Can't wait :)

hehe, lovely smilie :)
I remember that some boards had a great ammount of moral debate over that one.

Well, I may actually be ahead of a June 20 release date: I got a lot done.

* Logging in
* Viewing message list (a la forumdisplay)
* Viewing message
* Installation script

For the basic script, all I need to do is add the reply/new message functions, which are almost the same.

So, if you want to give me some feature requests (like ignore or something), please do.

As I said, if the script continues to advance at this pace and there isn't much bug fixing, it'll be out before the 20th - 15th/16th maybe :D

Woohoo!

Also, I talked to John about it a little and he said he's going to include an upgrade path from my version to the official version :) *cheers* The monopoly is almost complete! (sorry, inside joke kinda)

Also, if I can, I'd like to include an import feature from the UBB PM's, but I'm not sure how that is going to work. Don't worry, I'll try :D *more cheers*

Ed:

Just make sure that when someone post a message or replies to one that their password is encrypted.

With the UBB private messages the username and password can be seen and if you run any type of log analysis file all that information is available from the log files.

I look forward to this hack for sure.

Actually, your username/pass doesn't get passed through the query string - the hack uses vB's cookies (which means that you must have cookies enabled, sorry)

Jeez, I may have to push this release date UP again :D

The basic features are fully functional now:
"forumdisplay" like views for:
* received messages
* sent messages
(Separate tables, so you'll have your own "sent items" type folder)
Message view:
* vB code
* signatures
* icons
* smilies (anyone want the checkbox to disable smilies?)
Replying/New Message:
* Auto-filling in of some fields :)
* umm... Linking to memberlist

Note lack of ignore feature now :(

Also found my first major bug: if the user doesn't store their username/password, they can't login :( Hopefully I'll be able to work around that without rewriting the whole thing...

impressive! :)

Any idea whether this will allow the import of existing PMs from UBB? I'm hoping to make the cutover as clean as possible, and lots of our members use their PMs daily.

Also, John has mentioned that PMs will be part of the official vB upgrade in August. Can any vB folks say whether the official PM will allow importing of messages and preferences from the UBB hack?
