View Full Version : Total Installs

Any way to get the total number of installs a user has for his template mods, code mods, etc.
Code Modification Installs: X
Template Modification Installs: X
Style Modification Installs: X
Maybe this will even allow users to get a better idea of how many installs you need in order to recieve certain coder status's. That's just one of the pros that will come out of this. I'm sure there are other ways in which you'll benefit from adding this.
Just a small suggestion, nothing major.

I spend alot of time here, good people, good talking..I ( and others ) are just trying to help, although I do not think anything else should be done ( unless it is something very small ) until the hack db is done :-D.

Advanced Coder

I do not think you are in the position to talk. The only reason it always shows me online is because i leave my browser on it incase i need to find something to help me with my php coding, ask a question, look over a hack that will help me with my myspace system, etc. As my site is developing, i need to have vb.org opened as much as possible because it is my primary resource. I don't spend all day thinking of what to add on, but i myself came across this idea simply because i was looking to see how many installs i had in total when i got my coder status, in order to figure out how many i needed in the first place and then i thought that that x2 would give me advanced coder (which it probably won't, and that doesn't really matter anyways). I didn't come ot the site as much before i started my mission to turn my sites into a system like myspace, however, now it is simply necessary. With that being said, i am done with this post because of the fact that i need to get back to MY LIFE.

i know what it takes to get to advanced coder and then master coder. Lets just say that im 3 times closer to it than you, and about 3/5ths of the way there in general :-p id say what it is exactly, but not sure if its a general secret or not. (thanks to revan for help with this :D)

It seems to me that 3.5 hacks are not being counted which is a bit daft. But then we cannot really tell as the silly game is still being played, just post the qualifications and be done with it - what's the big secret about it ?????.

We were both kidding, I have changed nothing. :)
We don't post the exact qualifications because people would attempt to artifically inflate their stats in an attempt to reach the next title. I've personaly seen this happen with post-count based titles for years, so I have always agreed with the way it has been done, even before I was a staff member.
You are correct that some forums are not begin counted at this time, I won't go into the details but I will bring this up in the staff forum.
The general idea is not to modify our code anymore until we go to 3.5 gold, but rest assured that even if the modifications took that long to apply you would still get the correct title once said modifications are made.

I always thought it was based on number of hacks & installs :)
I'm somewhat curious as to how you artificially inflate your install count ?
( Talking of posts - why is your post count '???' )
It's not based on posts, I was using that as an example because it's something you see on just about every forum :).

Trust me it's possible, again not something I want to go into in detail. ;)

Define style.
Most of my shirts are 4+ years old, mainly black, t-shirts only. Most of them have some stupid phrase on them, one of the best ones is the shirt I have that says 'I didn't do it'. I had a nack for wearing it on days when I got in trouble in highschool (about once a week ;)).
I recently purchased a shirt that has "I hacked 127.0.0.1" on it, I find it funny but no one has got it yet locally....
The only shirt I have that isn't black is one my mom gave me for my birthday last year, it has a toaster and the words 'get toasted' on it.
Rarely wear shorts unless I'm hanging around the house, I like baggy (but not to baggy) blue jeans myself. I own many pairs, most more then 3 years old now, I just cant stand something new after what I got is broken in.
I own one pair of shoes, they are vans I picked up for $30 a few years back. I got them because they were cheap and I like how they feel on my feet. They have yet to fall apart but have gotton a bit stinky because I have a bad habbit of not wearing shocks, infact I don't think I even have a pair of them anymore :).
My hair is long, I look like something out of the 60s. I wear a beanie mainly to keep the hair out of my face, I own many of these because my family members are cheap and buy them for me every xmas.

But I agree, we've gone to far off topic here. :)
We listen to all feedback, but again at the moment we have 'frozen' the code and are preparing for an upgrade to 3.5. I know you guys are hearing this every day but you just have to bare with us, it's just something we all have to deal with at the moment.
There are many little changes I would like to make to this site, and some big ones. I think there are always things that can be done to improve vB.org, and I hope that in my time here I will be able to make these things happen.
I will keep this suggestion in mind, one of the things I really want to do is a bit of editing over many templates. One of my quirks is I am a neat freak when it comes to a layout, and while I am doing this many of these little additions will be made.

Fair enough then. Mind you I have to agree that the single life is much less complicated. Been that way for 10 months and 6 days now and it's been better. Only trouoble is that when you are ill you don't get all the fussing that you do when you have yourself a partner.
Boofo
09-16-2005, 10:05 PM
I never had the fussing when I was sick, because I still had to function then the same way I did when I was feeling fine. Remember now, I was raising 4 kids (an 8-year-old boy, twin boys 2 1/2-years old and the ex) so I was busy. The sad things is, the boys are growing up, the ex never did or probably ever will. ;)
peterska2
09-16-2005, 10:10 PM
Ah right. My ex-ex-ex fussed me when I was ill. My ex-ex (who I was with for 20 months) forced me back to work when I was unfit to do so, a tosser and general pain in the rear end. My ex was understanding but a complete tosser in other respects.
Boofo
09-16-2005, 10:14 PM
Hopefully you were lucky enough not to have any kids involved. That's where it gets really messy. I can handle what's been done to me, just not what's been done to them, and it would make you sick.

It's been kinda fun doing them over the last year or so (my first release was Sept last year). I'm glad people found all the stuff useful, with a couple of exceptions it's all just things that I have put on the forum I help run, and then released here afterwards.
