I am after a hack that will display the highest x number of posting members.

also, a bot hack that will post news articles. Is that possible?

Any suggestions would be great :)

There are existing hacks taht already do this:

Zero Tolerance has a modification that imports news to a specified forum

Boofo has a statistic hack for top x stats :)
