superb portal page

fantastic images (vibrant colors)
spacing throughout layout

content on portal page is just enough to peak interest
content is laid out in a way that encourages scrolling
hot topics below the fold? excellent! :D

can you tell I'm impressed?

I'm jealous now. :(

And I was even stationed in Sinop, Turkey in 71-72. ;)

Thank You so much for your nice words Princeton :)
ohh what a small world Boofo ;)

i have changed some things in VBexternal and delivered this portal home.
forum home/portal home thing is tough decision becuase regular forum members dont like this kind of forum home. But potential members likes this :p
because of that, i am forcing members to come back to forum home with navigation drawing ;)

server load? much lower becuase i am caching the portal output and pulling it via custom VBpage ;)

One of the best looking portal pages I've ever seen. :)

I really do like your scheme except for that murky green category background. I say replace with a lighter, nicer green gradient instead of what it is now - doesn't look very good IMO.

Overall, very good. I reckon to improve it even more, work on your postbit and forumhome layout/templates. :)
