While I have 2129 games I have seen some arcades with over 3k games. I have a good deal of v3 and ibpro arcade games. Everytime I get games from people it seems I end up with at least a few more lol. Im bulding an extensive collection. ;)

Zeropage .. Gettin the message Please change CHMOD to 0777 via FTP. Uploaded the tar`d games from the zip above. This is on mass install of ibpgames and the file is chmodded correctly ... v3.5.1 version ... they work individually, and have mass installed before, the only difference I can see is the quantity

**UPDATE**
Just to let you know, everything looks very good and I want to thank all of you for your patience - it will be worth it as you now can prepare your forum for ibProArcade 2.5.2+ :)
Best news all week bud. Very cool.

Update on above bug .. I uninstalled and re-installed the arcade completely, then did a mass install ... Seems to only mass install 100, then won`t do anymore, just says the folder is not chmodded to 0777, which it is

I am still working on the GOLD, and if that is finished I will publish it to the public.
Only if there is a doubt for a function where I think a last test is needed I would hand the GOLD to selected testers (very few) to quickly check out that special function, but I think/hope that is not necessary...

Using vBulletin 3.5.x uninstallation and upgrading is no problem and can easily be done using the Product-Management of vBulletin
For vBulletin 3.0.x there will be an uninstaller.php included
For Upgrades from v3arcade and "old" ibProArcade I must have a look on their DB-structure to do any converter - I would really be happy if anyone of you could make those two converters so I can include them in the Release, of course the author of the converters will instantly get the current development-version of ibProArcade and get named in the Release :)

11-15-2005, 05:29 PM
OK it was a problem with one of the games .... These 1000+ that I`m installing, quite a few have php errors, and therefore everytime there is one, the mass installation stops and it shows the error message, eg.
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ')' in /home/janos/public_html/forum/arcade/tar/npcricket.php on line 14
There is also the problem I mentioned above, where it will not install due to chmod .. This problem was because it was infact looking for the wrong folder....
Is there any way you can get it to skip ones that cause critical error, and the ones that have chmod problems, and just show you a list of the ones it had problems with at the end of mass install?

You might probably have to stay with this one because the proposed server to server transfer for games and services with the new V3Arcade will only work if you have allow_url_fopen enabled in your server's php.ini file. Check your phpinfo page.
Anyway, I'm watching development of IBPro for VB with interest. Big thanks to everyone involved with its development and testing :)

I hope this comes out as soon as it is done. I think this is better of the two for vbulletin. I have seen that their is questionable things going on with the other arcade, I was reading some of the post and do not want to have that installed anytime soon. This version is better phrased by a longshot. :)

If no one will do it, maybe I will have a look on that right after finishing the GOLD ...
How about a way to turn off PM notification on high scores? Is gold going to have this or would you like someone to add this feature for the gold release?
I have finish the random arcade games for the cmps and can port in over to forumhome as well.

11-16-2005, 01:44 PM
PM Notification options were added in RC4+
Isnt there already a random ibproarcade module for cmps? ;)
I will also add in that there is an issue using the mass install with the game pack posted earlier.

I have vbulletin 3.5.1 and would like to try this arcade. Is ibProArcade v2.5.1 for vBulletin the correct version to install? TIANo. v2.5.1 is NOT the correct version. MrZeropage (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/member.php?u=44793) is recoding a "legal" version of the arcade that will be version 2.5.2+ Gold, just for version 3.5.x of vBulletin. v2.51 will not work without major hacking, and it is illegal because it contains files that were not allowed to be redistributed. Wait a few days for this 2.5.2+ GOLD version if you will be using vBulletin 3.5.x. It will be well worth the wait. :)

MrZeropage found it and thanks.
JTyson,
Hi, if there is I couldn't find it. Mine is basically a cut and paste of code from the arcade.php so it is really not a hack. But is works.
Also the error with the mass install is that there are some games in that package that are corrupt. Once the corupt games are deleted the mass installer works fine. I mass installed 1097 of them.

Hi.
the .zip i have seems to have 1000+ games, and i am overwhelmed. Can I get some suggestion on what games are HOT?
or just install all the 1000+ and let users decide what they want to play.
Instead of all 1000+, i want to give selected best, but have no idea which game is for what. If i upload all, and even play myself, with my available time, it might take me a year to decide whats cool and whats not.
Any suggestion on the names of some good games would be lovely.
Cheers,

Both arcades will be free when they're released Gold. You can buy a $60 branding-free option at v3arcade which will allow you to download a beta copy of v3arcade now.

I have used both and find IBPro so much easier. So much so I want to send them and MrZeropage money.
The thing that is making me choose IBPro is the requirements that v3arcade will have to install games. You will need to allow there server to execute code on your server. Turn on allow_url_fopen on in the php.ini file. I don't view that as good.
If you are a hosting company with many sites, once you turn this feature on for your one site it becomes available to all the sites on your server.
You can use an .htaccess command to do this but it will allow anyone to execute code on you site.
There are only a few exploits out that will take advantage of this allow_url_fopen on feature. But if a whole Bunch of sites do turn it on it won't be long till more exploits follow.
IBPro seems the simplest and smartest choice. Not to mention it's ease to administrate.

It isn't good! Apart from the security risk with allow_url_fopen already mentioned, you'll be sanctioning the upload of something to your site and server that you don't know about. Presumably, all you do is select a game title and whammo, scripts are uploaded to your site. You won't have any idea what is being uploaded until after they're already uploaded. Too many security risks for me! There's safety in public releases because any exploits in the code will be quickly discovered and publicly reported.

Some technical difference is that ibProArcade is compatible to both v3arcade- and ibProArcade-Games and even to PNflashgames. Another thing is this new version comes along with alot of integrated feature like Tournaments (2,4,8 Players) and automatic Game-Installation for ibPro-TAR-Archives and v3-ZIP-Archives ect.

I got words that I happen to be the very first person in history to donate for this specific project ;). This is because I am so satisfied even with the pre-gold. I am going to attempt to install around 500+ games tomorrow.
If you go back in the posts, there is a link from where you can download a single zip that contains around 1000 games. With Mass-Installer, it should not be an issue.
Maybe someone can point me to the archive of 2000+ and i might also try to be the first to install all of the games available.

I was following v3 arcade untill quite a few posts into this thread, when I realised the differences and how huge they actually are. V3arcade to me is just too much of a 'closed' environment' that personally I think will go the same as the previous one. It will be released and then nothing will ever happen with it again. On top of this, you have to register on v3arcade site in order to download from the looks of the latest addition, which I would gladly do if someone asked me too, but don`t like things being 'requirement'.
Ibproarcade was free, is free, with no strings attached, no others connecting to your server, no sign on the dotted line, no pay to get rid of the branding (which in my opinion is pointless and disrespectfull to the coder anyway),and to be quite honest, is a more functional, userfriendly system. On top of this, the coder on here in comparison has been very 'down to earth', constantly updating his supporters in the project and enjoying it himself.

I downloaded the file kindly hosted by someone earlier in this thread, it's a pretty huge file, I'm offering to host this file but would like to provide maximum amount of games around the same time as Mr Zero releases Gold, Not doing this for anything other than the fact Mr Zero's hard work deserves as much backup as we can all give him.
Can anyone provide us all with more games?
Here is the link (http://www.itproforum.co.uk/ibpro.htm) to download the latest *.rar files I have the first one contains around 1140 games, the second has Yetisports Series 1-7 :nervous:, excuse my little plug for my forums, there's no obligation or popups simply download the files.
If anyone has a bigger selection please link it here I'll happily download and add to what I have there after will update the download location.

'Connecting to your server'? I read some of the post at that site, and anything that needs access to my sever to download games or what ever would seem to me as a backdoor gateway to your files? I could be wrong on this, then I will wait till vbulletin.org read through the code to see what it really does. I will not install the other one even if this was not slated to come out for another 6 months.
If you go and see some of the post, you will see some member's are just pist off of the false release date or the thought of paying money for Brand Free option which that is completly bogus to ever achieve. The games do come with logo's & url's to other sites.
I do not get why they did not learn from the first version that support and upgrades are little and far between.
I do make flash games, but never place a scoreboard or points system within it.
1140 games
That is alot of games? I guess if you need that many games I hope it you catagorize them? That seems it will take a few days to do? I just be happy with a dozen or so?

I guess your right on the catagory subject, these are simply wrapped in a .rar file, I guess it's down to the forum admin to catagorize them and choose what they want, I'm merely hosting the rar to give people the opportunity to enhance their arcade, with all the work thats been carried out by Mr Zero it's the very least i can do to support the cause :smoke:

Probably anyone using Mozilla Firefox will have problems downloading because Firefox doesn't recognise the rar format and downloads it as a text file. The remedy is to use Internet Explorer. btw thank you for hosting the download. I'm in the process of downloading it.

There isn't any multi-player function in the new V3Arcade yet. As I understand the situation, coding on the multi-player option hasn't even been started. It's just a proposed function which may or may not be available and which may or may not be free.

Besides the obvious fact that people here seem way more enthusiastic, how different is ipb pro arcade than v3arcade?
I've used v3 arcade prior to upgrading to 3.5 and I'd be glad to pay the $60 fee, but trying to get any information on the v3arcade forum is like pulling teeth.
I'm so confused right now about what to do. I don't like having a blank page for the arcade on my site since we upgraded to 3.5

Thanks tcs,
I'm not a programmer and so I have to weigh my options simply because each upgrade costs me money. I've spent quite a bit on v3arcade - install, upgrades, adding more games and so on.
My users are not typically game players, but I've got people like an elderly lady who loves to play some simple games and another kid who's a real game freak.
Is there a utility that would import settings and games from v3arcade? Also, I usually like developers of a product to do the install if possible and wonder if MrZeropage is open to doing this for a fee.
Cheers...

If you want, I can do that for you. A converter is not available yet but I started one for v3arcade->ibProArcade in a lazy minute I had ;) but it's not finished and untested
@tcs:
Gameinstallation in ibProArcade is very simple, just upload the tar/zip-Archive to the corresponding /arcade folder and install using the AdminCP-Functions of ibProArcade :)
Nothing with Serveraccess or any automation (even on removal of games)...
@Harry72 & kewl1uk:
While there is a multiplayer-feature planned for v3 this ibProArcade brings along its compatibility with PNflashgames, and there were some multiplayer-PNflashgames that could be played within ibProArcade. I saw this on a Betaversion of my ibPro at one of the testers site, and it was very impressive. But as a matter of fact the webmaster of PNflashgames is currently looking for a possibility to host those multiplayergames somewhere as his trafficcosts explode ;) So we may wait for him to represent those multiplayergames and use them in our Arcade's.
Please notice that PNflashgames are not for free, you have to buy a License and enter its Licensecode in ibProArcade. But it's worth :)

to be honest, the last bugs got fixed a few seconds ago :)
What I am doing now is some last cosmetics on the stylefiles and check something in the AdminCP to make it more comfortable in handling.
I also added the v3arcade-Games-MassInstaller (thx to JTyson!) and tested it, seems to work very well...
After that is done I will do a last fresh install on a vBulletin 3.0.10 and 3.5.1 while some people test upgrading from the "old" ibProArcade 2.5.1 so I can see if upgrading is easy and works well. As soon this is working properly I will check my v3arcade-Converter if that does its job to convert Games and Scores from any v3arcade 1.0.x installation.
I am not sure if those two conversion-tools make it into the final release, as I pointed the Release to the next weekend and don't want to miss that date - I hope to be able to include them, but we'll see.

Im curious, whats the legal implications of hosting these games for download?
As long as there allowed to be used by the games creator then theres no problem.
I just offered to host as i own my own hosting company so BW np and it can just be left up. Unles 6000+ start sharing :p

The reason I asked if it was bandwidth, could it be maybe someone complained about banned games being in there? I don't know if there are any or not in there, but all it takes is someone saying there is. ;)

A lot of the games avauilable now have been cleared by the authors and okayed. There are still some floating around out there that aren't, but most users are well aware which ones they are and should avoid them.

I like to know about what is it exactly you are saying? I know the arcade coder is removing and redoing the hack, and the games they place are really upto the site owner. If it is links to games here that have not proof of author's use, then those links should be deleted until proven otherwise.

Not sure what you mean and why you quoted me?
The quote was from clicking the wrong button. Edited.
As for examples, take a look at one of the pages in this thread. Instead of going on the basis of only installing games that have approval, people go more for the "dont use games that have been banned." Thats basically like saying is fine to steal unless you get caught. What are the odds that a developer will accidently come upon a random forum and find his games stolen?
Atleast v3 has taken some responsibility. It would be nice if the general public would follow the same respect. I find it hard to believe that people with 100+ games have permission for all of them.
Edit:
Wait a tick, going back two pages lists three posts with over 700 examples of stolen software posted publicly on these forums without moderation:
Heres some more games also i think 600+ in this lot.

You better wake up, my friend. v3Arcade was more notorious for it than IBProAracde ever was. They were charging to download the games and that is what the authors really get mad about, making a profit off of their games.

You better wake up, my friend. First off, how about some moderation on all that stolen software?
Back to waking up, have you seen the v3 developments lately? John is implimenting a system for independant developers to sell their own games and isnt allowing anyone on the v3 forums to link to stolen games. Really, they dont need to since they can come to vBulletin.org and get all the stolen games they need.
ConqSoft
11-23-2005, 08:28 PM
I think the site that was charging for games was called something like v3arcadegames.com or something, but was not affiliated with John. Again, I think that's true.

I really don't think the discussions about the V3Arcade on v3arcade.com is mindless. If you read the discussions you will see that rather a lot of people on v3arcade.com are of the opinion that V3Arcade will never be released for free and it's really a paid-for modification masquerading as the "branding free" option. Personally, I'm not really given to such paranoia but it has crossed my mind more than once that V3Arcade will never be released as a free download for as long as there are people who are willing to cough up 60 bucks.
Anyway, I wait for IPB Pro Arcade with interest and I'll install it when it's available and if it works as well as I think it will my $60 goes to MrZeropage in recognition of all the work he has put in for our benefit. Thank you MrZeropage.
