Vbulletin DB changes when upgrading

I would like to edit my vb database with custom fields and new tables. As of now I am running v 3.0.8. When I upgrade to 3.5 at some point when it is available will the upgrade scripts overwrite my custom fields and tables?

No but its a good idea to backup your db before doing any upgrades and possibly check to see if any upgrades will add tables or fields that may conflict with the oens you've added yourself.
