View Full Version : vBulletin.com DNS Problems

This is just a quick note to let you know that vBulletin.com is experiencing DNS problems due to technical difficulties with our registrar (they put corrupt data into the DNS system and as a result the world's DNS servers don't know where to find vBulletin.com).

We are working to see if the problem can be resolved, but it may be that we have to wait for the various DNS servers around the world to refresh themselves with the correct, uncorrupted data.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Why not run your own dns servers, or use something like ZoneEdit ?

We do run our own DNS servers - the problem is at the registrar level.

I put in the IP address and it started to resolve for me, with the vbulletin.com domainname..
Then again it could be just cached DNS info..

If you are on windows type this from the command line to flush your DNS cache:

ipconfig /flushdns

Sorry mis-read your post. My DNS has been off and on all day when it comes to getting to vb.com, although it seems to be fixed now :)

Depends on the site, some places I go to require the use of a proxy :)

I don't use any proxies, unless my IP is banned for some reason :p

Hi,

Yep having the same problem here in the UK, thought it was just me, my last isp blocked the vbulletin server for about 5 days once, at the same time they blocked the server I was running 10 websites on, hence the fact they are my former isp.

still not working here, is there any other way to access the site?

Add the following line to your 'hosts' file (on windows 2K/XP \windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts), make sure that you add it to the file hosts without an extension:
69.93.104.200 www.vbulletin.com vbulletin.com images.vbulletin.com

Make sure to remove the line once the problems are solved.

Worked for me, how do I know when the problems are solved?

Just try to remove it in 1 week, and see if all work. There is no way to tell when the change will be propagated to your DNS servers.

I added another address (files.vbulletin.com)

Mine didn't show images..so I grabbed the URL.

Hi,

Guess everything is back to normal, just removed the text that was added and everything is working as normal, thanks for the suggestion, and your trouble for coming up with a temp fix :)
