Question.... In your install.txt file you state:
Step 5: Configure {ROOT}/includes/settings.award.php and re-upload the file.
What needs to be configured?
If you use "Award Request" form, you can set configuration on how the form processed.
If you dont use the form, you dont need to worry about it :)

Will this extension recognize awards given from/through AnimeWebby's 3.0.x version of his hack? Meaning can I install yours when I move my site to 3.5.0, and have all the old awards still recognized by their database entries?
If not, is there a way to convert the old awards to your new system?

Hello ,
When I was Modify on the MEMBERINFO and need to Save , there is this Message
------------------------
The following error occurred when attempting to evaluate this template:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in /home/dardasha/public_html/montada/includes/adminfunctions_template.php(3510) : eval()'d code on line 349
This is likely caused by a malformed conditional statement. It is highly recommended that you fix this error before continuing, but you may continue as-is if you wish.

I think that would be a huge bonus if it could be done. Several hundred different rewards have been given out on my site, so it wouldn't be practical to try and just rebuild everything manually, but I'd really like to use your hack once I move to 3.5.0.
I'll watch this thread closely, if anyone can put that together, I'll be first in line to put it to good use. :)

The plugin system doesnt know if some plugin is duplicated :)

seems like it's working. i didnt see any problem yet.
... it looks like you didnt give any award to anyone, what should be displayed in postbit?
You need to assign awards to your members, in order to see them display in his postbit. it will only display awards on someone's postbit if and only if he/she has some.
How to add awards, please read over the manual, and add in your admincp.

Are you sure you did the right thing?
Did you go to your forum AdminCP?
Did you get to Award System section in AdminCP? and then go to Award Manager
Did you get to [Manage] link in there, and to get to this:

If not so, try this link, on your domain
http://www.globalaffairs.org//forum/admincp/award.php?do=awardusers&award_id=1
and put your userid in there.
Tell me how far did you go, and what error did you get.

Most likely because you are using the same table name as AnimeWebby's hack for 3.0x. Might be good to rename your table or mention this might happen. :)

I think I do mention that this hack does not compatible with Webby's award hack, and you cant use both at the same time.
IMPORTANT:
- BACKUP modified files and templates before making changes.
- Backup database is recommended.
- This hack is NOT compatible with AnimeWebby's Awards/Medals/CardsHack [vB3], you need to UNINSTALL his hack, before installing this one.
there's been a number of people using this hack already, and I wouldnt want to change and ask all of them to change, unless it's critical.

Having an issue in hand massaging the image link pointing back to the medal. Where is the URL called from?
Suggestion? Modify this so it goes into the postbit or postbit legacy so a user can go to the form directly from the post, with the URL of the post included.
Yes. The images show on the awards.php page, on part of the profile and in the control panel. Just now on memberslist and postbit. They are broken.
Since icons in postbit are "Award Icon", they are supposed to be small icons that fit to your postbit.
If you have Award Image also small, you can just add the url for award image to award icon field, then you are fine.
Fixed the DB error. Thank you.

which hand massaging are you talking about? i dont get what you mean.
which form it should go to? and why?
the form to request for award is in award list
yourforumurl/awards.php
if you want, you can add this link to your menu
the link in postbit is linking to the userprofile, showing which awards someone's got.

Here's what's showing. Instead of the actual image, it just shows part of the URL.
You just need to replace the relative path by full path to image URL in Award management, it will show.

Okay..I've noticed that all my awards show for "some" styles. There are 2 styles that they don't show in. I have reverted templates to match the default...and I still get broken images. Not sure why. I tried what you said above, with no luck.

since the picture is displayed on some styles, my best guess is you have some problem with some style.
I dont know how you setup your custom styles, so I cant tell you how to fix it.
if i have access to the templates, i might be able to see what happen,
you might want to check and see if all the additional templates for awards are displayed in the template that doesnt show.

How hard would it be to add the ability to edit awards instead of having to delete them and start over? Thanks..

You ARE already able to edit awards, aint you? Read over the manual for how to edit awards.
If you meant "edit awards given to users", well I will think about that, for future dev. It wouldnt be too hard though, if you know what to do.

How possible would it be for other hacks (like the PayPal Donations system for 3.5 - https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=91567) to interact with this one?
Just imagining a scenario where users are awarded new medals, or upgraded in the event of an existing, immediately upon donating to the site in question. Or bloggers using an article system (like cinq's) automatically getting a contribution medal. vbQuiz leaders having something until someone else takes the high score. Season winners in my Pick'em extension getting something straight from the system, etc.
Don't know how realistic something like that is, though.
mtha, I was the one asking about a conversion tool to transfer data from AnimeWebby's 3.0.x version. I have my production site on 3.5.0rc2 now, so if you're still interested, willing and able to use me as a guinea pig to make that, I'm game.
It would be great to be able to edit a users award! :D
put the attached file in admincp, it should allow you to edit user's issued awards. some phrases might be missing, but it will be included in the next release. i will do some more checking on it before releasing :)

I usually say, nothing is impossible. anything can be done, but it's just that I dont have interest on doing it/ I dont use any of those hacks, and it's more personal interest based than general bases.

Any idea as to why the award is showing up twice in the MEMBERINFO template?
because you have duplicated YAAS plugin somehow. if you dont have anything yet, just uninstall, and install again. if you have many awards already, you need to look at the plugin list and find the duplicated one. look over the previous pages, there was someone getting the same error

try the attached file with the old template (using $totalcols) and see how it turn out.
the totalcols will calculate the number of columns you have, depends on the options you have for award settings.

Something that would make this a top notch modification. I've added the link for the nomination form to postbit_legacy. What I currently have users do is copy the URL of the post they'd like to nominate. To make this even better, I'd like to see the URL automatically added to the reason section when a user clicks the link in the postbit. :)

Just create a link in your navbar.. And you have to link to awards.php, not awards-request.php. I added the link to the drop down menu in the postbit. :)
mtha -- Something to consider for a future version? The ability to restrict the use of the request function based on number of posts and length of membership. In other words, unless the individual requesting the award (either for themself or another person) has been a member for at least "x" days and has at least "x" posts, they can not use the form.

Bug with table prefixes when viewing "awards.php?award_cat_id=x"
Got an sql error.
Fixed it by changing this
// check to see if we have already got the results from the database
$fcache = array();
$award_cats = $db->query_read("SELECT * FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "award_cat
" . iif($display_award_cat_id, "WHERE award_cat.award_cat_id = $display_award_cat_id", '') . "
ORDER BY award_cat_displayorder
");
To this
// check to see if we have already got the results from the database
$fcache = array();
$award_cats = $db->query_read("SELECT * FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "award_cat
" . iif($display_award_cat_id, "WHERE " . TABLE_PREFIX ."award_cat.award_cat_id = $display_award_cat_id", '') . "
ORDER BY award_cat_displayorder
");
You were missing a table_prefix after the where statement :)
Also, noticed that the "awards_bit" template isn't getting cached when viewing threads?
Causing alot of extra queries.

It installed like a charm, and works great. I really want to thank you for all your hard work by making such a great addon for VB. :up:
I have a couple of questions/requests.
Once a user is given a medal, for example, how do you go back at a later date and edit the "Issue Reason" for a user after that already been added?
Also, I'm confused about the permissions when using the Request for Award page. It says I am not authoized, so how does a user access this page, or where is the user permisison located?
Although still under construction, you can view my Awards page Here (http://www.the-armory.net/vb3/awards.php)
And here is a post with some of the awards in action Here (http://www.the-armory.net/vb3/showthread.php?t=9221)
Thanks again :)

Is there a way you can make it so I can edit the reason without deleting and recreating the award?
I think I did add the function to edit it.
when you go to award manager/manage award, you will be able to edit/delete any given award.
let me check on the online version.

could you bring things like this
$formtitle = "Award Request Form";
in the phrase system?
Currently you can only use this hack on single language boards and I really want to use it :D

Yeah, same here. We have noticed the same two things with our Forum, Awards not showing in PM's and just after quick reply (dealing with the AJAX update I'm sure... it's not pulling the awards when it refreshes to see the post)

I had setup my own code where I had the awards I wanted to display side by side 5 across, then move to the next line and add another 5, etc, etc. using ghe custom fields and adding some code in the appropriate spots. However the YAAS system would be much better for my use.
Is there anyway of displaying awards side by side 5 across, then move to the next line and add another 5, etc, etc. or wrapping to the next line with the YAAS system and if so how?
Is there a way (ie : in postbit) to align awards from a same category in a line, then with a <br /> to align icons from another category in another line ?
Exemple sheme of the postbit :
Username (line 1)
Avatar ("line" 2)
awards from cat.1 (line 3)
awards from cat.2 (line 4 )

Help. I turned it on but I still don't see a link to request an award?
I didn't have too much luck with your alterative code to display 5 awards, then if there is more, drop to the next line to display next 5 etc, etc... any suggestions or other alternatives?
The other thing that also came to mind was, my awards in the posts etc aren't tiny like the example you included, I can probably make them slightly smaller but any smaller would defeat the purpose of the size they display at. Because of this if like in my case I want to display 5 awards across etc, the above stuff i.e. Last Online, Join Date, Posts, and IM icons etc, all still sit above the awards but sit with the left most awards. Is it possible to keep that data where it belongs at the far right so they don't move with the awards... oh I probably have said my user stat bar that most people have on the left of each post is at the top of user posts on my forum.
Would be greatful for any assistance you can assist me with to get this working the way I'd like it to.

Fixed it not showing after quick reply.
It appears that in newreply.php we find that the QuickReply is calling the same method as the post, except that the script name changes to the if check in the postbit_display_start fails and the code is not included.
To fix:
Replace in postbit_display_start:
if ((THIS_SCRIPT == 'showpost') OR (THIS_SCRIPT == 'private') OR (THIS_SCRIPT == 'announcement'))
With:
if ((THIS_SCRIPT == 'showpost') OR (THIS_SCRIPT == 'private') OR (THIS_SCRIPT == 'announcement') OR (THIS_SCRIPT == 'newreply'))

This is a great mod. Nice job Mtha!
Trying it out on our test server and happy with its core functionality. No issues as of yet.
We use a "badge" system on our current site (vb 3) which is made up of hacks here and there. Basically a badge is shown in the users postbit if they belong to a certain group.
Id love to see a usergroup functionality added to this however. We have about 30k members and to add accolade badges manually is pretty much out of the question. Hehe. I want to just do "usergroup ID = this badge".
I like the ability to add to a single user though, as it may serve useful for more "special" awards. The awards page showing a nice legend of all the awards is great as well. Nice touch.
Anyways, is anyone else interested in a "issue award to usergroup" functionality within this mod? Not sure how hard or simple it will be, but I am going to ask my partner (the code guru) to give it a go.
Thanks

I'd be cautious about using in_array, it may be more (detrimental) than it's worth in terms of processing time on the template. (Roughly 50% over a chained OR statement)

In the request award configuration, you can set
$formtitle = "User Nomination".
further customize, you can look over Dr Erwin Loh for FORM TO THREAD/ FORUM/ PM/ EMAIL hack, since I dont use the request form myself, and I cant customize further that way now.
there's also a new form hack for vb3.5.0, you can install that form hack, customize it, and chaneg the request form to link to the new form.

Everything else is working just perfectly!
Thanks in advance
Tried installing this hack.. Everything worked perfectly.. Added few awards.. I awarded a award to a user.. And while viewing the thread i get this error..
If i disable the plugin.. There is no error.. Whats the problem any idea?
Please note that for testing purpose i have installed this hack on my local host.. :)
Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context in H:\localhost\xampp\xampp\htdocs\Vbulletin\showthre ad.php(923) : eval()'d code on line 2
well, dont remember why I added a $this->post['userid'] check in showthread hooks, so i just removed it.
anyway, you can download the new version, and import again.

Hi all!
I have a little problem. The script is great, but the only thing is the awards not showing in the posting under the user name.

did you edit the postbit (or postbit_legacy) template?
did you give user awards? (if not, it wont show up)

Clicked Install, awesome hack! Thank you very much, I really appreciate it. This is going to save me soooooooo many headaches!
any idea why the award showcase would be displayed in everyones profile except for the admins?
it should only be displayed in profile of those who HAVE awards, regardless he's admin or member
if admin doesnt have any award, then there's no showcase/

the admin does have awards yet no showcase is viewable.
there's no reason for this, that I can think of right now
try: give more/remove awards to/from admin
give awards to other admins
check in MEMBER template, and see if the showcase is inside any condition that require usergroup not admin ...

I recently converted a phpBB forum to vBulletin and at the same time migrated members' medals from phpBB's Medal System Mod v2.1.0 by ycl6 (http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=148362) to YAAS v2.0.5. As the SQL table schemas for both award mods are very similar, this was fairly painless and can be accomplished through executing a few simple SQL statements. What follows is a quick how-to which hopefully will be useful for others looking to avoid manually importing the medals :)
First off, it is presupposed that you've imported your phpBB forum's data to vB using Jelsoft's ImpEx, that the import session is still active (that is, the importuserid field needs to exist in vB's user table) and that you've installed YAAS. Additionally, the queries are written for a situation where phpBB and vB share the same database, phpBB with the table prefix phpbb_ and vB without a table prefix; adjust to your specific setup where necessary.
The SQL queries can be executed from vB's admin panel (if you have the permissions), phpMyAdmin or the MySQL command-line client. (Needless to say, if you don't know understand what the SQL statements do, or are unable to adapt them to your specific situation, don't execute them!)
To begin, the following SQL statement will convert all medals from phpBB to YAAS, preserving the same row identifiers (which means you may get clashes unless you first delete the included example award in YAAS):
INSERT INTO award SELECT medal_id AS award_id, -1 AS award_cat_id, medal_name AS award_name, medal_description AS award_desc, medal_image AS award_icon_url, medal_image AS award_img_url, 1 AS award_icon_url FROM phpbb_medal;
Note that the awards are imported as un-categorized; you will need to manually assign them to an award category in YAAS's admin panel before they'll show up in vB's front end.
Next, you need to copy all the medal/award images from phpBB's medals/ directory to the images/medals/ directory under your vB installation. The image paths also need to be corrected in the database, which can be done with the following two SQL statements (replace the URL http://www.yourforumsite.com/forum/ with your vB forum's base URL):
UPDATE award SET award_icon_url = CONCAT('http://www.yourforumsite.com/forum/images/', award_icon_url);
UPDATE award SET award_img_url = CONCAT('http://www.yourforumsite.com/forum/images/', award_img_url);
Finally, the following SQL statement will import all issued awards to YAAS, mapping from the phpBB user to the correct vB member through the aforementioned importuserid field:
INSERT INTO award_user SELECT m.issue_id, m.medal_id AS award_id, u.userid AS userid, m.issue_reason, m.issue_time FROM phpbb_medal_user m LEFT JOIN user u ON m.user_id = u.importuserid;
That's all, folks :) Though I migrated from the Medal System Mod v2.1.0, the instructions will likely work for newer versions as well (and could be enhanced to import award categories as well, which were introduced in the Medal System Mod v2.2.0).

Sorry if this is already mentioned and me missing it:
-allow users to display the awards the like most in topicview, while the others show in profile.
Say only 3 awards are displayed, a user has 5 awards. Right now the 3 oldest awards are displayed in topicview. It's quite possible that the user is most proud about his new awards (recent, harder to get) and wants to display those.
Then you also have modest types who want to show only one or none in topicview :)

mtha!
Great hack man! I am using it extensively on my site. As a mil guy there are a few additions if you could for the next release!
1. Allow awards to be resorted by weight, for example, allow us to choose higher ranking awards and those will be listed higher in a members postbit and profile.
2. Allow members to resort awards themselves?
3. Allow admin to choose which awards have the 'request awards' link and which ones do not. For example some awards cannot be request such as the member of the month etc etc.
4. Allow/disallow certain awards for certain usergroups
5. Allow members to comment on others' awards (congrats etc etc)
And thanks for all the work on this!!!!

dont understand what you are saying. but I am re-ordering the awards, so that newest awards are displayed first.
WORKING!
1. Allow awards to be resorted by weight, for example, allow us to choose higher ranking awards and those will be listed higher in a members postbit and profile.
Done, with options to sort
">Order by issued time (newest first)
">Order by issued time (oldest first)
">Order by Award Order (ASC)
">Order by Award Order (DESC)
2. Allow members to resort awards themselves?
you mean those who view member profile, can resort awards, or member who has award, can set display order setting?
3. Allow admin to choose which awards have the 'request awards' link and which ones do not. For example some awards cannot be request such as the member of the month etc etc.
this will require some changes in database, will look into it. I myself dont use (and dont like) the request award feature, if you want, I can add them in, but still, the feature will not be fully supported :)
4. Allow/disallow certain awards for certain usergroups
What do you mean by allow/disallow ...?
You admins are responsible for giving out awards, and you need to decide which award giving to which member (belong to which group). right?
I dont see the point of doing it, in adminCP
5. Allow members to comment on others' awards (congrats etc etc)
same as rating, ... good idea but I cant do it right now. maybe in the future :)

i get this error when setting the permissions to usergroups
hmm, I dont get the error on my forums.
do you have error in other hack?
Try this:
Remove bitfield_awards.xml from your includes/xml folder, then go back to your usergroup permission, change some other setting, and see if you still get the error.
add the file back, rebuild bitfields, and try again with different group.
Can anyone confirm this error?

great hack thank you.
I was wondering if for future versions you could make it so you could also choose to award a usergroup a medal so that each member in that group could receive it instead of having to do it one by one? or maybe even the ability to award a medal to a usergroup instead of a user.
also combining this hack with the post award hack:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=92677
where you could give an award to a specific post or thread.
thanks again.
Version 2.1.1 - Add some checkng for errors before sending PMs (in issue awards and request award)
If you had 2.1.0 installed, you just need to replace
request_award.php and admincp/award.php
with the new files.
AND reimport XML product.
I got it but had to rebuild the bitfields, I had removed a different hack and it was 'lingering'. Rebuild the bitfields and you will be fine.

with vB 3.5.1, it rebuilds bitfield automatically. If you use vB 3.5.0, please rebuild bitfield.

the scheme is different, so it'd be easier to leave them two seperate award hack, especially when someone else already release one.

ok. they seem to work ok together anyways. I did post some suggestions in the other thread for the post award hack which would make it very distinct from what he's done so far. (to actually make it more like yours with the award categories and admincp integration and the versatility which your hack allows)

This update sounds very nice.
- [2.1.0] Option to set award in-active. Inactive awards will not be listed in award list. However, it will still be displayed in user's profile, if member has the award.
When each user can do this himself for his own awards, then that solves what I asked. In other words: allow each user to display his favourite awards in postbit.
I'll upgrade tonight.
Upgrade is so fast and easy: great release!

Sorry I need a pointer or two on this. Its installed and working but the request arnt showing up in the specified thread, or forum. This is set through the Admincp.
In your instructions, you say setup settings.request_award.php to use this feature, but its not in the zip file that up for download.
My question is do i setup in admincp or use the file if i can find it?
If the admincp, then I can not get it to work right. it will send pm to user i pick, but thats it nothing else go 'es through. Any thoughts

HMM, was you able to reorder award cat prior to your upgrade?
award_cat_displayorder was present in the database since after version 1.0
maybe you did not upgrade your award hack since 1.0 to the latest version for vB 3.0.7, or you missed one step to fix database?
anyway, check your database and see if you have table award_cat, and if there's a field called award_cat_displayorder in there.
or you may need to run the queries (add prefix if you need to):
this query will drop award_cat table. so becareful. if you already have the award cat table, want to keep it, you can look over the next query and see if there is anything wrong. with your current award_cat table.
DROP TABLE IF EXISTS award_cat

I noticed you changed the look with the postbit. It now has a box around it, and some additional text. I don't have a copy of the old "postbit" code you provided in an earlier version where it showed just the medals and a "more info..." link. Could I possibly have the old postbit code to make it more streamlined, because it gives to much height to the post header (postbit).
Thanks for this great program, and any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

However there is a fieldnamed awardsid

I opened my awards table (it was created and appears there was no errors during the creating step of installation) and sure enough, there is no field named award_id in the awards table.
However there is a fieldnamed awardsid
Could this be a left over remnant from a hack long ago?
its because its a none register post......check in the previous post theres fix for it

I need some help. Brilliant hack, I used the 3.0 one by Inf.Webby and now I upgraded to 3.5 and this is a BIG must for me. It's installed and I love it, specially all the cool new stuff, BUT...
My awards are kind of big, and I would like a <br> between them so that they show one under the other. Which template is that done in? I have been trying for 2 hrs and can not figure it out. I am pretty sure it can be done, I did it in 3.0 somehow but who can remember, right? :)
Thank you in advance for the help.

Can you help me at all please.
I have installed as directed. I am not sure what I have done wrong, but nothing shows up in my ACP for the awards editing.
I have not altered any templates as yet, do I need to do this first, I thought it would have shown in the ACP once I installed.
Any feedback appreciated.
I very much want to use your program and will be happy to support.
Oh here is part of the message that came up when I tried to install.

How do I change the column widths on Awards.php? The Award Description column is very narrow, while the users who have received award column is very long. I intend to only award to one user per award, so I would like to balance it out to allow a more in-depth description.

RED LINE, I had this same error when uploading, see above posts. the awards system still works anyway.
Only thing I have a little query on is this. When you go to plug in manger, any plugins I have are listed. But the awards one does not show as YAAS etc. etc.
It has this message instead.
Yet Another Award System 3.5 2.0.6

Hmm I have run into a strange error. When trying to assign an award to any member with a ' in their name it returns an error and the award is not given. For instance, the member name "rockin'male" return an error because of the apostrophe. All other usernames with apostrophes return errors as well when trying to give them awards.
Any ideas how to fix this?
Also here are urls to our implementation if you would like to use them in the examples.

Hi
I have added this hack to my site and the members love it. I have one request though! In the attached image you'll see one of the various awards from my site.
My question is, how do I extend the amount of text that is allowed to be typed for the description of the award? Some are quite long and as you can see it is being cut short.
I would appreciate any help anyone can offer on this.

Karsh, Put the awards code beneath $post[musername]
</if>
dubsyxxx, goto your admincp -> Awards System -> Award Manager -> *pick the award to give* click Manage and fillin the userid (if you know it) OR (not AND, OOOORRR I've had many people fill in both and get it wrong and mess it up) username and the issue reason. If you want to notify the user via PM, check Yes and click save.

If an award has been requested (from the page like this (http://www.trackpads.com/forum/awards.php)), check the ACP for Award System. In that part there will be Award Manager. Next to the award you want to give someone, click Manage. Fill in the User ID or Username boxes and put in a reason if you want. Hit Save and its done :)

Any way of allowing a Moderator to have access to the Award Manager? Or to the whole Awards navigation? Basically, adding it to the Moderators navigation menu in the ModCP?
I'm desperate to be able to allow a Mod award giving privileges, but not AdminCP access. Any help?

Sorry guys, my time is too limited now, so I currently cant give any support or upgrade to the hack. The hack is proved to be working properly, so if other members can give a hand on problems, it's be greatly appreciated.
I will try my best to give support when I have some spot on my schedule :)

in the admincp when managing an award (giving a new one) how can the list of current members with the award be sorted alphabetically? Since I have multiple moderators and alot of award recipients there have been a few duplicate awards given. Sorting the list like this would make it easier to prevent that problem. :)

I have no idea on that I'm afraid. I am not a coder, so maybe someone else knows or can code a bit to do that :)

well, I dont have a sorting argument yet, but you can do something like this:
edit /admincp/award.php
Line 722-727:
LOOK FOR
$awardusers = $db->query_read("
SELECT au.*, u.username
FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "award_user AS au
LEFT JOIN " . TABLE_PREFIX . "user AS u USING (userid)
WHERE au.award_id=". $vbulletin->GPC['award_id'] ."
");
REPLACE WITH
$awardusers = $db->query_read("
SELECT au.*, u.username
FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "award_user AS au
LEFT JOIN " . TABLE_PREFIX . "user AS u USING (userid)
WHERE au.award_id=". $vbulletin->GPC['award_id'] ."
ORDER BY u.username
");
