ecDownloads vs. vbLinks&Downloads

--what's the diff?
--which one are you using and why?
--can you use both? (without conflict) is there any reason to use both?

I use EC, effective & simple and well featured, my users would benifit from a downloads system, i installed L&D also (no conflict) although exellent, it didn't really work for me, i.e it was very complicated and on seeing the user interface i thought my users would be lost, a simple 'download here' and upload files feature was all i wanted, EC hit the nail on the head for me.
