I think there should be no avatars on the portal anyway. That section is to quickly see the news headlines from the last period. It should not matter who posted them, and you can see the poster/avatar whenever you decide to read the full thread.

I actually find the animated avatar of Erwin being repeated on that page extreme irritating.

I don't mind the avatar, it's a quicker way of telling who actually posted the new news article. :)

i like the avatars, too much text/no images is just boring and with erwin's av' it's apparently a family orientated site now, you gotta have something for the kids to go "ohhhhhh" at. ;)

saying that i would like to see more relevant news on the portal too, like php news that effects us and also mysql news.
