avatar problems in 3.5?

i don't know why, but i can't seem to add new avatars in 3.5

as a user i don't see any options to select site avatars, only upload them, even tho i have them enabled via admin

also, when i go to admincp > avatars my Generic Avatars has 0 avatars. however when i click Show All Avatars i see about 80 of them. they're all in images/avatars, and when i go to edit any of them it says they belong to the category Generic Avatars. not sure what i've done wrong?

oh ok, i haven't installed any avatar hacks so i'll ask at vbulletin.com. thanks marco
