Hi all, I was just looking through the 3.5 categories and was hoping you would take a suggestion on board:
I think it would be nicer to browse the modifications/plugs/extensions/hacks/etc if they were categorized by functionality instead of methods of implimentation.
Its just that when I look on vb for something... I look for what it does... not how it does it! (Maybe your db driven system will take care of this though)
BTW: I still think its a good idea to add flags for implimentation methods

As mentioned several times by the staff, the entire system will be re-written for vB 3.5 and it's Hack database, and as far as I can tell this will be a normal feature of it anyway ;)

The 'Hack Database' we are developing is just a hack that make it possible to put configurable attributes to a thread, and make them fully searchable. So any identification that you can think could be implemented with it.

Thanks Marco - I hope that means that it can be searched/categorized by some type of functionality then instead of just how its implimented?
Thanks

Any kind of (searchable) attribute can be linked to a thread. The set of attributes is defined per forum.

A hack can be categorised by function or feature or install method.
So a hack could have the tag of:
- private message
- admin only
- hook
- extension
- code modification
- author supported
- beta test
- vB 3.5 RC1
And you could choose to search using 1 or all of those.
This makes it much easier to sort hacks

Very Impressive! Can't wait till vB.org upgrades! :)
