I have downloaded some plugins but I can't install any of them.
When I import the plugin and select active it doesn't work.

If it is a plugin, upload from plugin manager.

If it is a product, upload from product manager.

For the rest, follow installation instructions with the hack

How does one know if it is a Plugin or Product .xml if it isn't mentioned in the install instructions?

That's what I also thought but have found a couple that don't, hence the question, but thank you will make sure that if it doesn't will ask in thread..:)
