Adding Variables into a Custom vBCode?

How do I add variables into a Custom vBCode? If that is even possible. Furthermore, after enabling the variables, would it be possible to use an if conditional?

1) <if> can only be used in Templates
2) You can't create complex BBCodes with BBCode Manager.
This requires Code Edits or Plugins (Hook bbcode_create) in vB 3.5
