Active Users Question

Hey all.

Just glanced at:
Currently Active Users: 578
And thought, 'wow, isn't vb.org great :D'

Then I noticed:
(103 members and 475 guests)
Huh? Why on earth do we have so many guests? Not that I have anything against that, I tend to have as many guests as users online on my board too... but since vb.org closes the important [ code ] tags to guests etc, what are they browsing for?

Mind you, I've never been one to browse a board for long before jumping in, but I really don't know why you have so much guest traffic. Can anyone enlighten me? :)

They may be (and a large number most likely are) spiders...

The rest are either people who do not understand that they have to login, or are reading public posts, or viewing the Portal after being referred to vBulletin.org;)

As hellsatan said, most would be spiders, usually explains any sort of unusually high number of guests on any forum.

They may be (and a large number most likely are) spiders...

I thought that too... but don't forums typically get invaded by spiders mostly when they're new? Or is it due to the fact vb.org is linked to all about the web (compared to mine ;) ) that it gets so many?

Its the fact that vbulletin.org is a BIG site, it is all around the web ;).
