Im really hoping to see a 3.6 update. Keep up the good work!
I've been having so many problems with this plugin, but have sorted most of them.
The only problem i'm having at the moment is that the thumbnails aren't displaying in the gallery. It looks normal, no red Xs or anything... just as though the thumbnails don't exist.
I've made sure thumbnails are enabled for each image type, and that they are enabled in the vb options.
I really am stumped. ><

Try doing update counters I would sudggest.
Try doing update counters I would sudggest.
Thanks, though I've tried that several times to no avail. :(
Its weird because the thumbnails display on the forum home page when I have them enabled... just not in the gallery itself. ><

Hey guys,
Just had a few questions about this great looking mod.First and most important is does this have a mass import option?I have been looking for a gallery that has this and i dont really like Photopost.
In case anyone didnt uderstand my question i want to know if i can upload all images to a folder via FTP then mass import them into a catagory on the gallery.

Many thanks for such a gr8 release.. I have been trialling this and it really makes my site very very professional.
Now, as one would, I have got two questions....
1. I had the older version of this, and can see that the new one is available. To upgrade, is it just a simple update, i.e.
Plugin System ==> Add/Import Product ==> {Point to the .xml file} and allow overwrite?
Will I have to modify the $navbar, $header etc templates as mentioned in the installation guide.
2.
I am trying to modify the "upload.gif" image to another one that i have used and calling it "upload_new.gif". I am making this change in the "gallery_display" template in the following place..
<td class="smallfont">
<if condition="$show['newthreadlink']">
<a href="newthread.php?$session[sessionurl]do=newthread&f=$foruminfo[forumid]">
<img src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/upload.gif" alt="$vbphrase[post_new_thread]" border="0" />
</a>
<else />
</if>
</td>
i.e. changing upload.gif in the above code to upload_new.gif. Saving the template , it still just picks up the upload.gif in the gallery. Is there anywhere else I need to make this change?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
Is anyone able to help me with the thumbnail not displaying problem I'm having?
Having the thumbnails on the forum home page, and not in the gallery is driving me nuts! I don't want to have to go for something like photopost, but I'm gonna end up having no choice. :(
I've just installed this inot vb354 and mySQL server hangs up almost instantly. after exploratin i've found this code
$thumbs = $db->query_read("SELECT gallery, threadid, firstpostid, ". TABLE_PREFIX . "thread.title, attachmentid, ". TABLE_PREFIX . "attachment.dateline FROM ". TABLE_PREFIX . "attachment, ". TABLE_PREFIX . "thread, ". TABLE_PREFIX . "forum
WHERE gallery='1' AND ". TABLE_PREFIX . "thread.featured!='1' AND ". TABLE_PREFIX . "thread.forumid=". TABLE_PREFIX . "forum.forumid AND ". TABLE_PREFIX . "thread.firstpostid = ". TABLE_PREFIX . "attachment.postid AND ". TABLE_PREFIX . "attachment.dateline < " . TIME() ."
GROUP BY ".TABLE_PREFIX ."thread.threadid
ORDER BY ". TABLE_PREFIX . "attachment.attachmentid DESC LIMIT $gal_num_rows");
and some similair ones inside global_start hook. Why there? Why not in forumdisplay_start?
Thanx for answer.
And anothe issue: gallery_index template is missing!!!

I thought I had the same problem - then I found that when I attached pictures from my computer as an attachment in the post, the thumbnails show up, but when I hotlink to them using the [IMG] tags I get the red x's.
So my question to anyone who can help is, is it not possible to use hotlinked pictures on the gallery, only ones which are attachments?
Also, I have another question... so far within the thread, only the first post/image appears in the gallery format, any further posts with images show up in the normal vbb way. Is that the only way it works, or is it possible to create a thread which shows an image in each post in the gallery format?

Not sure about your first question, but from what i gather, its vGallery is designed for only one attachment, one thread, one post to show up.. the rest are just treated as comments.
A similar question was asked, about the ability to mass import images and have them show up in the Gallery forum, however this too is not available in this release of vGallery.. not sure what the future holds, only Harold shall be able to answer..
But ofcourse, guess with vb 3.6.0 around, he might be set about developing a release for that... i hope.. :classic:

Leave it to me to break a great add on...
I am running vb 3.6.3...
The product installed, adjustments in the ACP Gallery section made (see graphic), the ACP thumbnail adjustments have been made as per instructions; all template and page modifications have been done checked and rechecked.
The only thing that I didn't change to no was using the inline images. I have to have that.
So with the above completed, when I submit a new graphic, it shows on the forum page but the topic that I created to submit the graphic doesn't show the graphic or a link to it: see graphic attached.
When I click show the lastest uploads, nothing shows. But when I click random the graphic I just uploaded shows. I have many graphics in many forums.... can we use multiple forum IDs in the Gallery ACP?
Also, I have a question: Will this add on show ALL attachments like pdf files, avi; or other media files attached or only gif; jpegs; png? I ask because what I am looking for is an addon that will show all latestest attachements regardless of the type.
Thanks in advance.

O.k. i've got it.
For vertical view of the latest/random pictures:
Change in the plugin: "gallery_images_forumhome" the following code
while ($gallery = $db->fetch_array($thumbs))
{
eval('$latestgallery .= "' . fetch_template('latestgallery') . '";');
}
to this one:
while ($gallery = $db->fetch_array($thumbs))
{
eval('$adv_latestgallery .= "' . fetch_template('adv_latestgallery') . '";');
eval('$latestgallery .= "' . fetch_template('latestgallery') . '";');
}
Do the same for the random_gallery:
while ($rand_gallery = $db->fetch_array($random_thumbs))
{
eval('$adv_random_gallery .= "' . fetch_template('adv_random_gallery') . '";');
eval('$random_gallery .= "' . fetch_template('random_gallery') . '";');
}
Now, create two the following two templates:
adv_latestgallery:
<tr>
<td align="center">
<table class="tborder" align="center">
<tr>
<td class="thead" height="100" width="120" align="center">
<a HREF="attachment.php?attachmentid=$gallery[attachmentid]">
<img src="attachment.php?attachmentid=$gallery[attachmentid]&stc=1&thumb=1" border=0 align="center"></a>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td valign="center" align="center" width="120" height="40">
<br />
<a href="showthread.php?t=$gallery[threadid]">
$gallery[title]
</a>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
</tr>
adv_random_gallery:
<tr>
<td align="center">
<table class="tborder">
<tr>
<td class="thead" height="100" width="120" align="center">
<a HREF="attachment.php?attachmentid=$rand_gallery[attachmentid]">
<img src="attachment.php?attachmentid=$rand_gallery[attachmentid]&stc=1&thumb=1" border=0 align="center"></a>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td valign="center" align="center" width="120" height="40">
<br />
<a href="showthread.php?t=$rand_gallery[threadid]">
$rand_gallery[title]
</a>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
</tr>
now, change the code for adv_portal_gallery (s. post of christianb):
<if condition="$vboptions['show_latest']==1">
<tr>
<td colspan=$gal_num_rows align="center">Latest pictures in the gallery:
</td>
</tr>
$adv_latestgallery
</if>
<if condition="$vboptions['show_latest']==1">
<tr>
<td colspan=$gal_num_rows align="center">Random pictures from the gallery:
</td>
</tr>
$adv_random_gallery
</if>
Of course, it could be better for handling, if you make two modules, one with the latest pictures and one with the random pictures.
Second: Forget those file-edit on vba_cmps_include_bottom.php. It's not neccessary anymore.
Thanks, this makes some things clear, but from my homepage CMPS I got red crosses, because the link needs "forum" in between.
How can I fix this?
thx!

Noone a answer to the last question?

Maybe this one is easyer, hope its poosible to fix it...
Look at the brown bars on the side in the Post where the Pictures are in.
I hope there is a way to adjust the wide settings or something, so that they dont show.
Thx in advance guys...

@buurmann: This have to do with the settings in the template "gallery_postbit". I think that the width-setting of the first table have to be changed for that.
For the CMPS-Boxes: It needs to be done in another way. I'll publish this, but not before the weekend. Hopefully i can restart working on the gallery at my holidays next week. There are a couple of things that need to be sort out urgently.

This did fix the bars on the side, what does this setting do?

This is a template, that is called by default from vb. I'm not sure about this template, i think it fixes some compability-problems with older IE's.

[Important Update]
Just to let you know:
I've started coding a new version of the gallery, which won't use the attachment system any longer. Instead of it, it uploads the pictures to a directory on the server.
Therefore it was neccessary to write the whole code new. At the moment there is no demo-version or any screen-shots. As soon, as they are, i'll show you.
Any suggestions for this new gallery?

I would really like a easy to use CMPS module, right now, cant get it to work.
Adjustable size of pictures would be nice, in a "banner" on top of the forum.
Like the one you made now, but then with only pictures in them, and the possibility to choose a size, so its possible to see like 20 small pictures in a row.
Also when clicking on the picture, not opening a new window, but just link to the post or gallery.
Hope you can make it work soon... :) thx.
-----
Made all of the above working, by editting some templates....
Only the CMPS I didnt try again, I will soon.

Yes, i'm developing the new gallery on an vB 3.6.4. This works fine.
I'm not sure, if this will still work with 3.5, but I'll test this out.
To be honest: I had several ideas, i couldn't do with the old version of the gallery, as the attachment-system of vB wasn't so usefull for this. So i decided to write all new.

You can try to disable the plugins via config.php.
Or, for sure, go into your phpadmin, look for the table setting, and set the value for "enablehooks" to 0, this should help.

squishi, get photopost or write your own script, do not waste your time with amateur scripts in the end you will just waste time debugging the script or adding essential features that is MISTAKENLY omitted for no reason. This is just my past experience, i may be wrong this time. I feel sorry for all the those that screwed up their board because they were trying to install beta script. Many hrs, days, weeks.. lost

Also the same cuestion, please help us!
Some where in this thread someone talks about this hack slowing a board down and it finally happened to me...
I'm running VB 3.5 and have had this installed for a while and it has been slowing the board down to a crawl recently... Once I turned it off the forum was back up and running to full speed...
It has been working great for about 2 years, same shared server.
Now with fewer sites on the server it brought it to a snails pace...
So if you plan on using this with a lot of members and lots of images, be careful..
In regards to a newer version, I'm not sure if it will do the same thing...
I have the newest version of VB and the newest version of this running on another shared server with only 9 members and it is working great.. Just started the forum!
I will wait and see....
Oh, the other forum has 3200 members and probably 1000 photos
David
In all fairness to this hack, which I have been using for years, I wanted to update my last post....
After finally turning this off, my forum did run much faster...
Yesterday, I took the heavy forum off of the shared server and moved it to a dedicated server... It was a nightmare... The reason is that VB allows you the option of storing your attachments in the database and also on the server in a folder...
Well, when the programmer went to move the database it crashed because the table for attachments was 250MB that was 2500 images... It took him awhile to back up, split the file and then import the table in the new forum...
At that point I immediately switched the images off of the database and into a folder... This is all handled in your Admin CP...
This was a learning lesson for me and I hope it helps other people with large amounts of attachments.
My programmer who does this on a regular basis with OS Commerce says this was the largest database he has ever seen!

I've used this mod for some time now but I'd like to now use the Users Albums feature within one of the boards I look after.
Has anyone moved pictures over to user albums without asking each user to do it themselves?
