There was a 3.0 hack to allow mods to ban users from only the forum they moderate...
Probably an easy hack- but I thought it be even better if when they got banned - instead of showing the standard "you do not have premission" error, that it would redirect them to a page specified in the ACP.

yes, I would love a hack like this.. ban from specific forums. I figured it was already built in to vbulletin, seems a little odd that a moderator can ban a user from a forum he doesn't moderate.

If this is something that can be done.. ..that would be fantastic.
I have diff mods who have diff way of talking and rules in the various forums,.. some can be strict while others are letting go,...
It would be great to ban from a specific forum and not from the entire site.

Rather possible with multiple usergroups and permissions.

true but wouldnt that be to messy? i have alot of sections and supermods incharge. they all think different like the first post says so a hack would be great. i already have like 18 to 20 usergroups.

There is an integrated vBulletin feature called "Edit User Permissions". Which can turn the access on/off for spec. forums...the thread is looking for limited banning abilities for moderators who are mods in a specific forum/subforum (not the whole board). From what I can see moderators do not have access to the permission masks and that wouldn't be as ideal as a limited ban hack.

so how can we get this hack made or ported since it already existed? im sure alot of people can use this since there are alot of mods with different point of views on alot of sites.

I've made a hack for allowing Mods to edit Access masks - I'm just altering it slightly to dis-allow altering access masks of users who are staff :)
Chris
kool...when we can hope that will release ?/

with the access masks would they be able to disable someone's access to a forum for X amount of time and have the board automatically restore their access when X time is up?
and would it stop a moderator of one forum/subforum enabling/changing access of users for other forums/subforums?
