How can I setup my board so that a users Username and their Display name are different?
For example - if I had a company forum for employees and I want their user name to be their employee ID, but when they post instead of the employee ID showing it displays their full first/last name?
Is there any mod to do this?

making it would not be a problem, simply modify the system slightly to use their userid as their employee number...

Yes there is an easy way!
Create a new custom profile field and write down the number of it.
In the postbit and postbit_legacy template let the profile field show up instead of the loginname.
This works within my board very fine.

I have already created this hack/mod, please refer to this link: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?s=&threadid=82787
Easy install and if you have a special request, as you don't want the employee id to be known at all, then that can be altered in this hack, just PM and let me know if that is what you need altogether. Because if they post, id won't show but it will in the profile.
Cheers

PS: Just noticed that the person who said no, was not looking very hard for the hack. :D
