My postfix recently was being invaded by the Texas_Holdem people mass mailing thousands of junk mails to people and taking all my resources, causing my site to go down all the time. After careful examination I determined that they were using the sendmessage.php.

A ticket to support suggested to me that I upgraded to 3.50 (that they will not also support) because flood control was added to that version.

Since I am not even near comtemplating the idea of such an upgrade, I realized also that they gave me the answer to my problem.

This hack is really not mine. I just remembered AnNet hack for image verification before posting.

So I simply adapted it to sendmessage.php and now, unregistered cannot use the sendmessage.php without typing in that verification image. It could also be made for evryone.

I receive a lot of help in this community. Since this was a major problem for me and the solution was so simple, I am posting it in case it helps someone else.

It doesn't work for me. No code displays. I have GD enabled and its working. I did notice one strange thing though; the code asks for "register_imagebit" template, yet none exists.

It works for me now (using 3.0.17). I moved to another web host. The old one must've had something disabled that was messing it up.
