Easy Add Forum Moderator v1.5

This Extension was inspired by this thread (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=143099). I found this to be a rather useful feature, so I decided to add it.

What this mod does:
It enables you to add a single user to multiple forums at once.
The new moderator will have the same permissions everywhere, so fine-tuned permissions still need to be done individually.

Features:

Detecting of Category or parent-less forums
Add the moderator to any combination of your forum list
Same detailed configuration options as if you were adding the Moderator manually
Multiple moderators can be added to the same forums
Username existance check to prevent nonexistant users from being moderators
Fully phrased
NO Code Modifications needed!

Screenshot attached.

Install instructions:

Click install (you want your precious support, don't you?).
Upload the files.
Run /admincp/forummod_install.php.
Delete above file.
Enjoy.

Great mod, I've been waiting for something like that which simplifies the addition of moderators.

Thanks for sharing. :)

I am sorry to ask this :P but can you please port to vB 3.0.X? :)

I am sorry to ask this :P but can you please port to vB 3.0.X? :)I'm working on that now :)

Update: Now includes an error check that displays an error if no forums was selected.
This is not a critical update. To upgrade, run Uninstall then Install from the /admincp/forummod_install.php.

Hello,

Did the install work for anyone? I uploaded the files, and ran the install on a test forum....and nothing. I thought perhaps I need to run a search and save one of the phrases, but again, nothing. I even went and manually typed in the forummod.php in the acp directory, and when it loads, it is empty. Any ideas? Anyone else have this problem?

****Update****

It created a NEW Forums and Moderators drop down, and when I tried to use that one, it gave me a blank screen. When I refreshed my browser, I can then access the forummod, but I now have TWO Forums & Moderators. Is that supposed to happen?

What in the bluest... I tried this on Beta4 and it worked just fine.
What version are you trying this on?

It works fine on RC 1. ;)

Any way to make it so if the forum is a link it doesn't get listed to add a mod to? And a drop down with the forums might be better especially if you have a lot of fourms. ;)

But you cant select multiple forums in a dropdown, can you, f00l!?!?!?!?! :p
And Ill look into that linkage stuff tomorrow :)

Hmm, seem's good, like IPB used to have it in 1.3, i guess to improve you could add mulltiple moderators to x forums?

I'm sure it would come in use for me then if that was made =)

There is a plug-in here that does just that. Sure you can select multiple forums. You didn't know that really? ;)

i guess to improve you could add mulltiple moderators to x forums?PHPwned, seperate mod usernames with ;
Also the error checking works for multiple usernames, it removes any invalid entries then proceeds to add the correct ones as moderators.
Any way to make it so if the forum is a link it doesn't get listed to add a mod to?PHPwned too.

To upgrade, run uninstall then reinstall :)
Beware that this will most likely delete any custom translations of this hack.

Revan, this is the mod I was telling you about that had the box to pick multiple forums. Would save some space, I think. Just a thought. ;)

Out-Out Forums from Get New/Get Daily

- KirbyDE did it I think for 3.5 RC 1

Wonderfull mod, only suggestion I would have is that it would look nice to also have tabs so you can see what forum is a subforum and what one isn't.

Great work!

I don't understand
this mod adds a new line under "add a forum" called "add a moderator" or adds a feature in the "add a moderator" existing feature?

Yorixz

It adds the new line which will give you more options; you can select multiple forums there etc.

does this work on 3.5 gold?

Revan

I would say so, what with this being an Extension, you can install it without having to worry about something going wonky.
If it doesn't work, then let me know.
I currently don't have anywhere proper to test the mod with Gold.

Very nice, thank you. One suggestion, would be cool if there's a point to select all forum at one, useful if there are a lot of forums.

Hmmm I am getting this error on two different db's.

Database error in vBulletin 3.6.2:

Invalid SQL:
INSERT INTO `*******_testphrase` (`languageid`, `varname`, `text`, `phrasetypeid`, `product`) VALUES (0, 'forummod_add_new_moderator', 'Add New Moderator', 1, 'vbulletin');;

MySQL Error : Unknown column 'phrasetypeid' in 'field list'
Error Number : 1054

Any ideas?

Thanks

I uploaded the files and installed the phrases using the phrase manager and it works fine on vBulletin 3.6.2.

The forummod_install.php needs to be updated.

What phrases, and where would they go?

Cars2007

Change the phrase insert statements in forummod_install.php to look like this, if you are on vB 3.6.7pl1: $db->query_write("INSERT INTO `" . TABLE_PREFIX . "phrase` (`languageid`, `varname`, `fieldname`, `text`, `product`, `dateline`) VALUES (0, 'forummod_add_new_moderator', 'global', 'Add New Moderator', 'vbulletin', unix_timestamp(now()) );");
$db->query_write("INSERT INTO `" . TABLE_PREFIX . "phrase` (`languageid`, `varname`, `fieldname`, `text`, `product`, `dateline`) VALUES (0, 'forummod_make_user_mod_of_this_forum', 'global', 'Make user moderator of this forum:', 'vbulletin', unix_timestamp(now()) );");
$db->query_write("INSERT INTO `" . TABLE_PREFIX . "phrase` (`languageid`, `varname`, `fieldname`, `text`, `product`, `dateline`) VALUES (0, 'forummod_possible_category_x', 'global', '{1} (<i><b>Category or parent-less forum</b></i>)', 'vbulletin', unix_timestamp(now()) );");
$db->query_write("INSERT INTO `" . TABLE_PREFIX . "phrase` (`languageid`, `varname`, `fieldname`, `text`, `product`, `dateline`) VALUES (0, 'forummod_user_does_not_exist', 'global', 'User does not exist.', 'vbulletin', unix_timestamp(now()) );");
$db->query_write("INSERT INTO `" . TABLE_PREFIX . "phrase` (`languageid`, `varname`, `fieldname`, `text`, `product`, `dateline`) VALUES (0, 'forummod_no_selected_forums', 'global', 'You did not select any forums.', 'vbulletin', unix_timestamp(now()) );");
Previous versions had a column that doesn't exist in 3.6.7 - and, 3.6.7 requires that the fieldname be set to global, or the phrases won't show up.

Just installed, with additional info from Cars2007.

After entering mod name and choosing all "Category or parent-less forum", submitted request and response was moderator was added.

But it did not, I wonder if something changed in version 3.6.8

I had to add the mod on each Category manually.

Is it possible to make it so that a usergroup is a moderator for a category? Like if I want officers in my clan to moderate one section and a different set of officers moderator another section?

I modified this hack and got it to work with VB 4.0.6. If I get some time, I'll package it up and post it.
